It's mostly due to agents. The agents are able to give the CV's of Australian players to ISL clubs hence they can sign them. ISL clubs hardly scout.

Players from Iran, Iraq and South Korea might come cheaper but the agents don't have the reach and language barrier.

Marcus just confirmed it's between ATKMB vs Goa/BFC for Jhingan and that he'll play in India , which was evident from the day he left KBFC . My bet's on ATKMB because no one can match their offer .

I believe ISL clubs to will come to a similar phase like A-League clubs where they will be reluctant to offer huge money to players. ISL clubs make a huge losses every year and unless there is a strong structure where clubs can make money they will continue to mount losses

In all 3 teams, a CB position is still open. All 3 of them confirmed only 1 foreign defender. Jhingan or no Jhingan, BFC will go with 1 Indian CB.
