yah.. true.. Marquee player is not necessary and Marquee rules are changed.

Now clubs can sign U 23 player as well with following rules and should be approved by ISL.
    U 23 Player :
At-least 2 Senior club appearances in top 5 leagues  ( all European :EPL, La Liga ,Bundesliga ,Serie A & Ligue 1)
    or
3 NT appearances . Country should be in top 25 FIFA ranking team (World Cup (across all age groups)/ Olympic games / Fifa confederation cup)

    Veterans ( 23 + Years) :
    Should have played

    1. At-least 75 games in top 5 leagues
    2. Either in Champions league or Europa League
    3. Either in World cup or European Championship or FIFA Confederations cup
Most of the previous Marquee players fall in this category..

East Bengal signed decent players... Only concern might be with Collin Quaner & Anthony Stokes fitness. They hardly played in last season..

Neither Stokes nor Quaner confirmed yet according to Alan Myers. So, maybe someone different.

LOL...One more A League player linked with ISL . From next season onwards, we may see few more clubs signing more than 1 Australian player from A League.

So, time perhaps to rename ISL as "IAL"? "Indo-Australian/Antipodean League"? B) :D

The main reason is the financial crisis and paycut in A-League. Indian clubs are getting quality players at cheap price. We can't compete with leagues of Korea, Japan, China or middle-east in terms of player wages, but we can now afford A-League players.

Also, all these players are English speaking. Australia may be the only nation in AFC where english is the main language. Only Chennaiyin signed a AFC player whose mother tongue is not English. Mumbai City signed a Japanese player, but he was born and raised in England.
