If I am not wrong the actual u23 asian cup serves as Olympic qualifiers. And we give the least importance to this tournament. Neither we give importance of Asian games nowadays. These would have been much easier target than world cup qualifying dreams.
@souravindia - completely agree. World cup - realistically - we can think of in 2030 - not earlier than that IMO. After this AFC23 - India should focus on domestic age group state level tournaments to increase the game time for every youngster. More inter-district and inter-state matches should be organized during the year so players spend more time competing and when they come up to U17/19/23 - they are already have enough technical expertise and game time. Every year we need to see more number of teams participating in the same tournaments - to measure the growth of indian domestic players. That is where the real success stories of tomorrow are built, one brick at a time. Hopefully this COVID will be over soon and more action/competitions resume at domestic level. As you said Asian games and U16/19/23 should be given more attention and preparation to build the player base.
The India U-23 side’s campaign in the Qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup which is set to kick-off from October 24, 2021, will be streamed live on the Indian Football Team’s social media handles.
