Looking at Indian hockey team play reminds me of our football team. Non existent midfield, very slow movement ob and off the ball, hike/scoop long halls to both flanks and hope opponent gives you a chance or 2. We were lucky with last minute penalty corner strike. Doesn't look like there is a plan B

That's an insult to the hockey team, atleast they are playing long balls in the opposite direction. Our football team is great. Back pass and back pass, play from the back again repeat the cycle till we lose the ball. We create nothing for that even long ball strategy is better IMO

Second time in the row, we qualified to Men's Hockey S.F despite playing with 10 men for more than 40 mins.
Defeated G.B on penalties 4-2 after finishing regulation time with 1-1 score.
Britain is a tricky side, defending against them with one less player is an excellent job.

We would be playing either Germany/Argentina in S.F .. Both are tricky sides but I would prefer Argentina in S.F since we played against them in group stage.

Last year Olympic champions (Belgium) defeated by Spain & runners-up (Australia) defeated by Netherlands. Even we defeated 2nd ranked team, Britain.

India’s men’s hockey team concluded its home leg of the FIH Pro League 2021-22 with a 3-1 victory over Germany at the Kalinga Stadium. Goals from Sukhjeet Singh, Varun Kumar, and Abhishek secured the win. Anton Boeckel scored Germany’s sole goal. India now leads the standings with 27 points from 12 matches. The team displayed dominance in possession and effective attacking from the flanks.

    2. India 3-2 Germany (March 10, 2023)

This match was another close one. The first quarter ended goalless, with both defenses looking strong. India broke the deadlock right at the end of the second quarter, with Harmanpreet Singh scoring from a penalty corner in the last second.

India extended their lead in the second half, with Sukhjeet Singh scoring twice. Germany fought back late in the game, with Paul-Philipp Kaufmann and Michel Struthoff scoring to make it 3-2. In an exciting finish, Germany took off their goalkeeper for an extra outfield player in the last 5 minutes, but India’s defense held firm for the win.

    India 6-3 Germany (March 13, 2023)

This was a high-scoring and exciting match. Germany actually scored first, with Tom Grambusch converting a penalty corner in the third minute. But India responded strongly. Jugraj Singh, Abhishek (who scored twice), Selvam Karthi (who also scored twice), and Harmanpreet Singh all found the net for India.

Germany managed to score two more goals through Gonzalo Peillat and Malte Hellwig, but couldn’t keep up with India’s attacking play. India’s defense, led by goalkeeper Sreejesh, held strong in the fourth quarter when Germany pushed hard and won several penalty corners.

    India 3-0 Germany (June 1, 2024)

This was a strong performance by India. The first quarter was tight, but India broke through in the second quarter when Harmanpreet Singh scored from a penalty corner. In the third quarter, India took control. Sukhjeet Singh scored a beautiful goal in the 41st minute, controlling the ball well before hitting a reverse shot.

Just three minutes later, Gurjant Singh added a third goal, finishing off a team move that started from the halfway line. India’s goalkeeper PR Sreejesh played exceptionally well, making several crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.

yah.. Though they fielded some young players in pro-league. somehow, we have a good record against Germany even against their first XI. Maybe the reason is they will not physical game like Belgium/Australia or not physically comparable to Belgium/Australia or they play open/attacking game.

Germany was in transition in Tokyo Olympics, but this time around they gained lot of experience & will come hard against us. But, since we are playing without fear and having good H2H , we will definitely have an edge against Germany in S.F.  Fingers crossed & wishing our team best luck.
