The Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, is set to return for its 134th edition and will kick off from July 23 to August 23 across five cities in India.

The tournament commences with Indian Super League (ISL) side East Bengal FC facing South United FC at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on July 23. Alongside the Red and Gold Brigade, five other ISL sides, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Mohammedan SC, NorthEast United FC, Jamshedpur FC, and Punjab FC, will also participate.

A total of 24 teams have been divided into six groups, including leading Indian Super League (ISL) clubs like Mohun Bagan SG, East Bengal, and defending champions NorthEast United FC, as well as I-League and armed forces teams. Notably, the Malaysian Army and Tribhuvan Army will add the foreign touch in it. Six group winners and two best second-placed teams will progress to the knockout stage.

Matches will be held across five cities: Kolkata (Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kishore Bharati Krirangan), Shillong (Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium), Jamshedpur (JRD Tata Sports Complex), Kokrajhar (SAI Stadium Maharaja Trophy), and the new host, Imphal (Khuman Lampak Main Stadium).

Defending champions NorthEast United FC begin their title defence against the Foreign Services Team on 2 August in Shillong.

Group B (Kolkata): Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Mohammedan SC, Diamond Harbour FC, BSF FT

Group C (Jamshedpur): Jamshedpur FC, Indian Army FT, 1 Ladakh FC, Tribhuvan Army FC

Group D (Kokrajhar): Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC, Punjab FC, ITBP FT, Bodoland FC

Group E (Shillong): NorthEast United FC, Rangdajied United FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Malaysian Armed Forces

Group F (Imphal): TRAU FC, NEROCA FC, Indian Navy FT, Real Kashmir FC

All matches of the Durand Cup 2025 will be broadcast live on Sony Sports 2 channel on TV. The matches can also be live-streamed on Sony Liv app and website.

The 134th edition of the IndianOil Durand Cup is set to see its prize money pool triple to ₹3 crore

The announcement was made at the trophy unveiling ceremony held in Kolkata, where officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining the tournament’s prestige and expanding its competitive appeal.

The significant increase in prize money—up from ₹1.2 crore in previous editions—will benefit not just the winners and runners-up, but also semifinalists, quarterfinalists, and individual award winners. Three brand-new SUVs will also be awarded to top individual performers.
