Well, the Rush & Cash cup is a K.League cup named after the sponser of the cup. It is play by 12 club teams divided into two groups. The best two from each group plays in the quarterfinals and then so on. It just like any other cups from any other leagues in the world.

    'Classic' touch for K-League

Seoul: The 2013 Korea Republic league will see the introduction of
promotion and relegation for the first time as the top flight of Korean
domestic football undergoes a significant overhaul.

Korea's top division has been renamed 'K League Classic' while the second division adopts the title of K League.

The 2013 K League consists of eight teams, including Gwangju FC and Sangju Sangmu who finished bottom of the 2012 K League, while 14 teams will compete in the K League Classic.

The bottom two sides from the K League Classic will be relegated while the team that finishes 12th in the top flight table faces a playoff with 2013 K League champions.

FC Seoul won the last edition of the K League and the Korean champions will be joined in this year's AFC Champions League by former ACL winners Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (2006), Pohang Steelers (2009) and Suwon Samsung Bluewings, who were the last team to claim the Asian Club Championship and Asian Super Cup titles in 2002 prior to the introduction of the AFC Champions League the following year.

So Korea have successfully implemented AFC regulation of Promotion/Relegation by launching professional 2nd Division. :)

  • so we a need a full time secnd div league

Yes, that would be nice but look at this. The K-League has been around for well over 25 years and they only adopted promotion/relegation now. Japan took around 6 years to do it.

India is not the right place for promotion/relegation yet. We are far away from every being ready. We need more teams to come up who have realistic goals and have long-term plans.
  • BTW Also notice how the new K League (2nd Division) has 8 teams while the new K League Classic has only 14 teams.

That is right... 14 teams. And a 8 team 2nd Division.

If the AIFF is smart then this could be India by around 2018-2020.
