EB and MB have good support from fans which the league needs right now
if they have a good fan support even after dividing themselves into two, just imagine how huge their fans support wud be if it was a super club like Kolkata United......?? we are living in the 21st century and here, we don't need any community rivalry....east benals, west bengals, south bengals.....don't u think its a little too much.....these people need to be practical....worry only about football and cheer for their side being united instead of parting and supporting for two different sides which are of the same city of kolkata....if they are not having any fans for a wealthy newly formed club like kolkata united, that means they are only concerned of their community rivalry than a football rivalry.....for showing community rivalry, any platforms can be used, y in the hell do they want to destry footballing platformingg instead....i wud suggest tham a boxing ring instead...let them finish off their anger inside the ring rather making it worse by showing it inside a football field....!!
Let me make it a little more clear....
The only things gained by these following historic clubs of India...
1. East Bengal - fans, fans and only fans...
2. Mohun Bagan - fans, fans and more fans....
3. Mohd. Sporting - well, ofcourse some fans still left...
The disadvantages of these so called Historic clubs....
1. East Bengal - no own stadium, only city level marketing and merchandise, poor team management, hardly made it through in the AFC licencing, 1 of four clubs from kolkata alone(only 14 teams participate in I-league),.....
2. Mohun Bagan - Reasons are the same....
3.Mohd. Sporting - reasons are the same....
Taking some historic clubs from outside India.....
1. Manchester United - owns a world class stadium, world class management and staffs, world wide merchandising, mutiple times champions league finals, one of just two clubs from the city of manchester(remember, about 20 teams are playing in the premier league)
2. Sheffield United - owns a quality stadium, quality management and staffs, world wide merchandising, one of two clubs from sheffield...
3. Celtic - owns world class stadium, world class merchandising, quality management and staffs, only club from the city of celtic, scotland.....
though, the positives are taken from reputed footballing nations, they, the successful foreign sides are matching world class features within themselves, but where have we reached with our historic clubs being the part of national league....??? neither the club have gained any extra world class features nor the league have gained much popularity that we really needed to take our naion to big stages of never mind the world, but unfortunately not even in the asian level..... ...once again, they are still alive becoz of their fans, or they are extinct long long back....!!
yes, san siro is shared, but not just shared but owned and shared by these two wealthy clubs....and take their names..its AC MILAN and Inter Milan....and not named as any azoories or spartans....!! and, wen taking our historic clubs, first of all, they represtent an old fashioned system of nameing by naming themselves as east bengal and mohun bagan which only they will follow from where these clubs are based on...wat about the new generation of kids not living in kolkata, who likes football and want to see their city lock horns with other top cities of india...i can bet they will know from where these clubs will be coming if its kolkata united, but, what is they came to hear that their city club is going to play against KEB or MB...?? the first thing coming to their mind wud be.... which new unknown city are these....??? i had a similar situation too...!! so, u hav to admit that clubs like EB and MB are worthy enough of clashes between each other and not between any other sides.....greatest exampl, the empty stadium for the super cup final featuring east bengal and salgaocar...!!!

I agree Varun. These clubs should just mix up already to Kolkata United. Right now at every I-League game East Bengal and Mohun Bagan get around 20,000-40,000 fans per home game. Well imagine if they are combined. Imagine at an I-League game (other than the Kolkata derby) where you will see 40,000-80,000 a game. All of them United into one super club.

thats exactly what i am trying to scream and say to each and every indian football fans....but, y can't these guys follow me....???
cuz the idea u r screaming is right now impossible to achieve cuz most corporates would not even think about it. how many national companies came up for sponsorship of the greatest player in the world only pepsi that to cuz he is their brand ambasador in europe. what about pfc vs rovers match?
y shud we term it impossible and leave it as it is...thats wat we were doing for the last half acentury.......i-league's or these giant clubs cud only focus on middle-lower community.....if a game need to get improved, we need to have fans from every single community, not just the lower, but the midlle-class, middle-upper and the upper class community.....then, y shud our clubs only focus on just the middle-lower class community to cheer for their sides by playing in a rented and shared stadium, why wud they be lacking in complete professionaism in every management fields including merchandising and marketing.....?? why are they so much into star players who are not from kolkata but mostly from north east, south india and west...?? they, are in a phase of domination though financially weak...why wud we need a financially weaker(though not really weak), but showing hesitation on spenting much on their club.....??? and if they make big changes like adding star players with few other reputed players, increase the wages, improve the infrastructure, bring in some icon players to their side....ya, its definitely not possible if the league is the same as the prize awarded will also be the same...wat difference can the prize money bring in every changing season.....?? for last season it was $250k and now increased to $320k....really big amount which will definitely attract the corporates or club owners to invest more on their club....
u kiddin...its just 320k, its not even anywhere to the prize money awarded to the sides ending up last in their respective national leagues of nations like japan and korea...!! and, dats the reason y i said, we shud change it in whole ...start from level 1.....i-league is a league which will never ever gain popularuty as its something which is fixed up in minds of many.....but people will turn up if they came to listen that our football has a new high profile league about to start featuring all big stars...any one wud be interested to take a look on it.....!! new city based clubs, some wealthy corporates, local stars playing for their side, some icon stars on their side,.....the whole profile will get a drastic hype....popularity will rise, the new generation of kids will be dying to see their cities clash with the rival cities....!! and, then if a kolkata united comprising of a super squad like ashim biswas, budhiram tudu up front, mehthab, jewel raja, syed nabi, lalkamal in mid and debrata, abhishek das in defence, subrata paul keeping the bar with few other good talents from kolkata and outside kolkata and some european, american, african or asian class players in the side facing a goa fc containing top goan stars like alvito d'cunho, climax lawrence, branco cordozo, peter carvalho, noel wilson, anthony perriera, clifford miranda, godvin franco, shilton d'silva, gilbert oliviera, jaoquim abranches, denzil franco, rowilson rodriguez with few talents from other states and also foriegn high class stars.....even, i sitting in kerala wud be interested in going and watching that game...then, just imagine the excitement and passion that will come in the minds of each and every kolkata and goan fans, mostly kids, nothing can match that, not even a kolkata derby....!!! if these kids get noticed, the elders will also get involved in it and result in increase of fans following followed by a hype in popularity and thus resulting in more corporates to invest on this particular field....
If properly marketted regional teams will have same fan following like clubs in Kolkata and Goa. But you dont need to strike a blow on anyone; they will be automatically vanished like Md Sporting is on the process. If there is a professional league with regional teams the present clubs will crumble automatically. You need to fixed the mandatory requirements to join in. These could be like these-
1)Own stadium and practice grounds, hostels, gym, pool etc
2)Mandatory to keep junior teams and participate in tournaments for them. Facilities for these teams should be specified. There should be atleast U13,U16 and U19 teams with senior teams A & B. Team B can play in local league.
3)Qualified technical staffs for all these teams -senior to U16. Coach, Doctor, Physion, Physical trainer etc.
4)Existing clubs like EB, MB or others can be allowed only if they fulfill the criteria.
5)Professional management who are paid salary for their service not some amateur football lovers.
6)Transperant scheme for transfer. Transperancy in accounts.
7)Special assistance from the federation to the clubs in regions where football is popular but initial financing is a problem due to economic backwardness (like N-E and J&K) with coleboration of the respective state governments.
8)Properly planned schedule so that top players can be available in national camps without hampering the league.
9)Matches should be arranged by clubs on home & away basis and 80% earning from tickets, sponsors, advertisement should go to them.
We need to take a lesson from IPL. Who thought five years ago that thousands of people will go to cheer for regional teams.
