@Jayaprakash - If you are looking to get involved, I think the I-League rather than a club is a better choice. They do maintain scorers and put up squad list (though poorly maintained) for the U15, U18, 2nd Division and the I-League.
There is an ambiguity over certain "assists" in Indian football when compared to European football. For example, in the Premier League, if a penalty is scored, that goal will have a goal-scorer but no assister. This is because there is no guarantee the penalty will be scored, and the game is stopped from the point a penalty is given, and re-started in the box. Additionally, the player who is fouled could take the penalty himself, which means he could end up being the assister and scorer if the penalty is converted, and neither if the penalty is missed!
For an own-goal, the dubious goal panel decides if it in fact an own-goal or whether the goal needs to be awarded the player who took the shot, in the PL. Usually, players claim the goal but the panel decides. If a goal is awarded as an own-goal, then the player who shot the ball will have an assist.
I am Pankaj from Delhi. I am a football fanatic, just like all of you here. I play as a mid-fielder myself (I love to play anywhere in the field ). Paul Scholes, Ronaldinho and Bergkamp would be my favorite footballers.
From the current Indian players, I like Eugeneson Lyngdoh.
I also love IM Vijayan, Renedy Singh, Bhaichung and Sunil Chettri.
