Javier Sanchez Flores is the new Fitness Coach of east Bengal, the previous fitness coach Carlos Jiminez and assistant coach Dimas Delgado have been released.
Oscar Bruzon reportedly hit upon a novel way to increase the fitness of the East Bengal players. The team had travelled to Bhutan to participate in the AFC Challenge League. On reaching Thimphu on 24 October in the afternoon, the coach told the players that they would be visiting the 177 feet high statue of Gautam Buddha at Kuensel Phodrang in 10 minutes. The footballers could not imagine what was next in store for them. Three kilometres before reaching their destination, Oscar asked the team bus to stop and told the players that they would have to cover the remaining distance by running. They ultimately reached the "Buddha Point" after climbing almost two thousand stairs. The coach's objective was to acclimatise the players to the high altitude of the place besides increasing the physical fitness of the players.
East Bengal main team played a practice match with the reserve team yesterday. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. PV Vishnu and Madih Talal scored for the main team, Jesin TK scored for the reserve team.
EB would be missing the services of both Mahesh and Nanda in the next game; the coach wanted to try out various combinations in this game
Update : Madih Talal possibly out of the remainder of the season . Change might be needed . Diamantakos available for selection from the next game . Crespo might return ahead of the 2nd leg derby.
Really unlucky to be losing a bunch of players to injuries. But this is a good opportunity for players on bench to step up. Ashique had a great game after years as a left back. Hopefully some new young player steps up.
