will these set of 27 players form the first batch of AIFF u19 academy? or will there be selection from them?
  • Just a guess but I would believe that the O'Donald would want to try-out more than just 27 players and may, in the end, just select the best from each batch.

    That makes more sense.

Either way it is good to see that the core of the U16s is retained and are now with the U19s. I can now see India in the 2014 AFC U19 Championship and 2014 AFC U16 Championship.

    This is excellent development.

10 of those boys are the former IMG boys, if you add Uttam Rai to this , that makes it 11 players that really benefitted from that.
Only wish they had stayed their longer and had been there all year round & not sporadically for those 2-3 yrs.

They could have played regular competitive games and returned for qualifiers.

Looks like the GK's from IMG havent made the step up yet , but most likely coz 2 of those guys are very young & will probably be in the U-17 India group.

A lot of credit due to coaches at IMG..... this is about the only positive contribution of IMG-Reliance to Indian football

  • I do wonder if we could have the coaches come to India. It could benefit them as well.

There were more than 27 players for the selection,GK Supratim did update about this in Dec and looks like he dint make the cut.

I dont think age is really a factor cause Sajid and Daniel are only 15.

I knew that (well, not much about the earlier camp) but what I meant was that I bet that O'Donald will continue to scout. Maybe he will watch some I-League U20? Something like that.
