I dont want to judge savio so early but playing Jaspal parmar in the starting line up is a bad decision...even kolkatafootball reported that he was one of the worst players on pitch.instead get naoba singh. .also getting in wadoo at the 65th min is ridiculous...how can he even get into the squad...wadoo must be thanking his lucky stars that he gets to play in the national team when so many good players cant even get there

From the photographs, the stadium was not even half full..(contrary to what I thought) What is point of having a matches in places where we can't even get a 15000 seat stadium fully packed .... I am sure that the Kolkota match will draw more crowd in and I hope it will be a jam packed stadium...

The pictures you had seen are beginning of the match, when I saw the match on T.V I believe there was a packed crowd.
• you know I am going to look at this the same way as I do for the US national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann. This is the man who gave you the Germany football team you know today and yet after 6 matches he has 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 losses with the US team. So if I can have patience with Jurgen then I can with Savio. NOW COME ON AND LETS KICK SOME MALAYSIAN ASS!

Savio Medeira

"I am happy with the way we fought back in the end. Considering how we prepared for the game, I am pleased with the performance and result. We started the game well but then allowed Malaysia too much space. We have to sort that out ahead of the Kolkata game,”

Due to unavailability of Samir Naik because of an injury, Jaspal Parmar was handed a debut

"Jaspal did well, it was his international debut and his first match with this group of players. I had faith in him, as I have seen him do well for Salgaocar and today he performed well under pressure."

Mahesh Gawli
"We fought back well as a team. The crowd was great and for me personally, it was a great feeling to be captain.”
• a draw, a draw. long ball. savio medeira. WTF. Everyday i read articles, Indian football is growing. Where? i can't see it. its back to where we started a year back. its like a cirlce. we think we are moving in the right direction, but then we realise oh 3 coach changes, back to long ball, old players, awesome Aiff, oh the circles complete.

How do you know it was long ball? Where you there?

No i wasn't there, neither did i see the game, I got the idea from this thread only, i wasn't telling but i was expressing my view :)

The stadium has flood lights too. impressive!!

One doesn't need a citation in paper to believe that there is floodlight. The match kicked off at 5:45 and went on till 7:45. Also its eastern part of India that too in the winter season. You can imagine there would be no play in dark and hence the presence of floodlight

posting something unrelated but interesting..

the media reported that only 98 were sold on day one and 324 till Friday, the hosts association was tight-lipped to give figures after three days' counter sales.

Only a handful of people, mostly journalists, gathered to watch the practice of a low profile West Indies team led by Darren Sammy.

In fact, at the adjacent Mohun Bagan ground, there were more spectators in numbers to watch the local football heavyweights train in the morning.

For a stadium that had witnessed a crowd of 80,000-plus turn out during the epic India-Australia 2001 Test, the historical Eden Gardens on Monday wore a sorry figure with less than 10,000 filling in on the opening day of the India-West Indies second Test.

With Sachin Tendulkar's impending 100th international century, being the only attraction against West Indians, the Eden had a vacant look with less than 1,000 turning up at the start.

Incidentally, the Eden Gardens that hosted its third international match in the last 20 days had witnessed something similar earlier.
In India's ODI against England on October 25, only 27,000 were in attendance, lowest for a match involving the home team.

WIll kolkata show more love to Indian Football NT ?
or is it gonna be a empty house.. wonder if AIFF even advertised these friendlies anywhere?

I don't think so. The Salt Lake Stadium will be filled up. It won't be a full 120,000 but maybe 60,000-80,000 people I can guess. Kolkata is a very football loving city and as years go by football has been slowly gaining power over cricket in Kolkata so I expect a great crowd.
