This thread is for the celebrity influence Indian Football gets whether it be from former famous footballers, actors, singers etc. They must have some influence on Indian Football.
To start of here is this article which is mainly about Ruud Gulit (famous Dutch footballer) <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/136/india/2012/01/23/2860899/i-would-love-to-help-develop-indian-football-former-dutch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/136/i ... rmer-dutch</a><!-- m -->
He says that he was in love with the infrastructure and the players during the Super Stars XI game verse United Sikkim FC who are prepping for the I-League 2nd Division.
What really caught my eye was when he said that he would love to help out in Indian Football and if a role was offered to him he would take it. I dont know why but I sense he could be our next national coach. The man to take the Indian National Football Team to the next level. It only makes sense. We have a dutch technical director and I am guessing Baan has some info on Gulit and whether he can be good for India. They also would have no problem on team selection and style of play. Also I saw Gulit's coaching style when he coached the LA Galaxy in America and he is a good coach who wont take slakers. He also has a good record and has coached Chelsea, Newcastle United, Feyornord, LA Galaxy and a Russian club and he has done well on all his adventures. I would love the AIFF to do this. Savio may have the SAFF Cup but that is nothing. India should be going for the AFC Asian Cup not the SAFF Cup. Gulit may be a start.
Of course though he could be used for other uses. Maybe a director in terms of league management. How we conduct the I-League and all that. But AIFF must use him more, that is for sure.

But on positive note, Baan - Guilt combination could be the catalyst that India requires at this moment at national level. Firstly the dutch idea of football is engrave into youngster, who could then perform better at national level with Guilt coaching. This means there would be a consistent pattern of football all the way along for a youngster. Secondly, the problem of lack of proper tactics when playing good teams can be solved, with such a good coach. I feel India seriously lacks tactical knowledge when playing good teams. India do have talents to be atleast be in 100 -120 ranking, but lack of tactical knowledge is holding them back.
On the point of celebrity influence, I am keenly waiting to see how PLS develop... How is the top players of the world and coaches influence people towards football. But one thing is sure, PLS has generated more media attention( both Indian media as well as foreign media) than I - league has done for last few years.
If materialize, this could really change the flow of Indian football.
But in the meantime, I am not sure he meant to be interested in NT coach, may be he want to venture into Indian football through PLS. A short term commitment with large bucks(I guess it would be high looking at IPL)?? Eitherways, it will be great of Indian Football.
A interesting question, who could be our new coach after SAVIO? I guess a new thread would be better for this
Here is the thread on the new coach:

I dont think he meant PLS. First of all where would he go. They already have there coaches and he cant play. Also he already cotributed to non-PLS Indian Football. Maybe United Sikkim FC could give him a youth development role as he was just there and said he loved it and I bet Fidels World and Bhutia are putting money into there budget.
But on the other hand, UFSC can't effort Guilt as of now!!! They don't have the budget to retain their top players... like Johnny Menyongar, Renedy Singh( both lost to Lajong) and Manju ( on loan to Pune FC). May be Baichung's contacts can bring him to UFSC for occasional talks and training sessions, but seriously I doubt it for USFC main/youth development role.
Once United Sikkim make it into the I-League proper who knows how they will do. Johnny and Renedy were lost becuase they wanted top flight football. USFC did not lose Manju, Manju is on loan to Pune FC and should return to USFC for next season. And if USFC do a Pune FC then once they get promoted to the I-League they should start there boom (website, players etc). I believe Pune FC had a website when they were in the 2nd Division to but did not update till they were in the I-League proper.
Also go to Indian Football News (another thread on here) and you will find an article on PLS. I agree with that article on every point except that it will be a success. I still am skeptical.
