ROUND 17 SCORES

  • Yeah , CUK should stay afloat and stay in Kerala . But I dont think United SC should move to Allahabad , just to justify the sponsor's name . That way ,we are going back to sponsor-named clubs . And what happens if the club decides to change sponsor after a while ? They move back to Kolkata or what ?

They could also move to Lucknow and honestly when you compare Lucknow and Allahabad, Lucknow assassinates Allahabad in terms of sports popularity, infrastructure, and future. I do see what you mean as Prayag wont remain sponsors of Prayag United SC forever but still even if they are brought out by a Kolkatan owner then they should still move to Lucknow. Like I have said on facebook, just because the owner is based in one city does not mean the team has to be also. I can give many examples.

Ya Lucknow seems like a great place. I seen some pictures of the Indian Women's Football Team there at the training pitch and it looked good. Also Lucknow seems like a great sporting place. You also got the amazing K. D. Singh Babu Stadium and also apparently for 2020 or 2022 they want to build a world class athletic stadium (football basically). This city is the perfect place to create a franchise in and even better for an I-League team because you can expect a crowd (of course with proper marketing)

I still hope though that it will be Prayag as everyone here should know by now that Kolkata is Mohun Bagan's and East Bengal's city. Pailan and Prayag wont find a fair attendance at the 120,000 seater stadium. Hell, even if one of them can get 20,000-30,000 people regularly the Salt Lake would still sound and look empty. Its just to big and Bengal and Bagan have taken all the support. That is why I hope if Chirag stay up somehow they stay in Kerala and build themselves up there because they wont survive in Kolkata, not because Kolkata cant get fans at games, they certainly can but there is little non-Bagan and Bengal fans left.

    An important to note:
We always say that the regions name is important as people deem it as there own club...its same for owners. The management who runs United SC from almost a century now (Estd. 1927) are people from Bengal who love their club, they won't just shift it to a totally different zone and audience for the sake of getting ppl in the stadium. Max theycan do, and are planning to, is to shift it to other parts of Bengal... Football clubs to be followed needs to be adhered with the culture...For example, EB or MB, however, good they play wont get as much passion as they get in Kolkata or Bengal....One can argue that Prayag will never get such fans, which is true, but then they will keep on trying that...and they should...thats how football club evolves....

KD Singh babu stadium is multipurpose but there is no football ground in it. IDK if they play football in cricket ground. behen mayawati demolished another multi purpose stadium(cricket, tennis, basketball, swimming, etc) in gomtinagar to erect ambedkar park <!-- s:violence-smack: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/violence/smack.gif" alt=":violence-smack:" title="Smack" /><!-- s:violence-smack: --> . school level football is good in lucknow after that players quit the game as there is no scope in football here.

True and thats what they are planning to do with Siliguri but still. We are trying to spread Indian Football out. Just moving North of Bengal wont do it. Also you are running into Premier League Soccer territory and I know I have said the PLS will fail but do you still think that a Siliguri PLS team vs Siliguri I-League team battle end out well. Also Lucknow is not that far away from Bengal. I would still see no problem with moving there even if the owners are Bengal obsessed. Also I bet at the end of the season when they see there huge losses they will start being more obsessed with making money than there Bengal love.

If Chirag Kerala can do it and soon when Barcelona plan to play at the Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai then a Lucknow team can do it. Just need to add some temporary bleachers and your good and if that athletic stadium in a few years actually does come then playing at a cricket stadium for the time being would be worth it.
