@samiam Well almost. When did you see him playing last time? 20 months since he played ODI and 18 months since he played test match. 2 years for T20. IPL is still there though.
Djokovic not playing for Serbia in Davis Cup tie against India from sep 12th. Serbia is without Tipsaverich and Troicki also. So it is pretty much their B Team. India should have hosted this tie in Chennai. Hotand humid weather of Chennai would have created a good chance for us.
Any one with some knowledge about Indian Basketball? What's the current scenario? My ex company was a sister company for a celebrity management firm, one of the managers there used to regularly send updates to some one in NBA. I think they are trying to market it here.
Basketball is a growing sport in India, recently our mens team beat China and lost against Iran, Jordan, Philippines in close encounter. What makes this performance even more sweeter is that India is probably the only team in top Asian tourney which uses only local bred semi-professionals against most of the teams who have Americans, Africans etc.
Team is very young lacks in creativity but has good size to compete against the best in the world. With the team being cleared for Asian games I expect them do some miracles this time around.
Actually you said the opposite, Basketball has better infrastructure compared to Football. There are many indoor stadia around the country, even at grassroots most of the schools are equipped with basketball courts.
The real problem is lack of players, we just have around 20-25 guys who are good enough to play for India and all of them are semi-professionals who are employed with ONGC,Railways etc. American coach Scott Flemming has done excellent with the very least resources available to him.
Indian Basketball has huge potential, imagine how strong we will be with a professional league and better grassroots development.
The Sacremento Kings owner/part owner is an Indian guy,Vivek Ranadive . He sure wants to tap Indian markets, he picked Simran Bhullar, the Indian Giant for his team. Although he was not drafted, but he's still going to play the secondary league.
