Dude, Leander is unbelievable. He's still winning grandslams at this age. As for Mary Kom, again she was twice pregnant and still returned and won medals of the highest level. Respect!!
@atuljg Full respect to leander but have you ever noticed why he is not very popular in India squad. He may take fittest and best Foreign partners but the same form is not replicated in Davis Cup or with Indian partners. You really think he can now win Doubles in any Davis Cup with any Indian partner? Even Sania or Bopanna are not happy to partner with him. M C Marycom Full respect in 2012. But what do you know about her fitness now. MaryCom lost to Pinky Jangra and will again lose if their is qualifying fight as there is only one slot. Just because somebody was pregnant in 2008 doesnt mean a fitter boxer should be overlooked in favor of a legend who is not in prime form.
Thats why I salute Vijender Singh. He knew when to step down from Amateur boxing and make way for others instead of hanging around claiming injuries or fake tears in front of TV channels claiming discrimination if not selected for form or fitness reasons. True Champion!!!! This is the problem in Indian sports fans, just sit on past laurels. Never consider present fitness or form.
Munna you can ask foreign players about Leander in recent Davis cup match he is not fully fit so result is bad against Czech republic . & he is not being popular among indian players rohanbopana & somedev , sania Mirza belongs to Mahesh camp. All the members know how bravely he fought in 2012 Olympics with vishnuvardhan who is 140 rank.though Leander lost the match in 2 round it is 5 setter match. If you saw us open then you will not say against Leander. I only agree with you on marykom & vijeder opinion O:-)
Full Respect to Sehwag but he has Vision and Reflex problem since 2011-2013 seasons. That makes him unfit for International Cricket. It would have been better for him to declare Retirement in 2013 instead of doing it now. What was he waiting for? Indian players do not know to Retire at High and in Style instead of doing it when 3 years have passed since you are unfit and not being selected.
When I was a kid I was mad about Cricket and then I grew up. But I remember the time when Sachin usedbto be one man army. If he was out, people would lose interest in the match. For me it was pretty much the same with Sehwag.
Vijender singh is an absolute jackass. What are his achievments after 2008 bronze? Nothing. Lost 2010 cwg final to world rank 12 while still being #1. I stead of focussing on games the guy was busy in acting and on Fucking Roadies. As for retiring on a high...he was in a constant state of decline. Dont even remember when did he play his last competitive match...most likely lost in rd. 2 Or 3
Vijender Singh achievements after 2008 Olympic Bronze:-
2009 World Championship Bronze 2010 Commonwealth games Bronze 2014 Commonwealth Games Silver 2010 Asian Games Gold
Besides that, he gets selected on Merit by participating in Trials, camps instead of crying in front of TV channels.
He has guts to Retire when Body becomes unfit for Amateur Boxing as it is difficult to compete with heavier weight group and younger boxers in Amateur Boxing.
There are many Duds who will go to 2016 Olympics on past laurels instead of form or fitness.
Heavier weight group? He has been playing middleweight all his career. As for cwg medals we won 5 in glasgow ,expected 8 because competition is not high in cwg. 2014 was a one off. And to say he got selected on merit is a myth. He retired one yr. Prior to olympics why? Because he cared only for the big signing amount he got for signing new fancy agreement.
