AIBA suspends Indian boxing federation over election manipulation
International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) provisionally suspended the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) late on Thursday possible manipulation of the recent IABF's election two days after the suspension of Indian Olympic Association.
On Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended the IOA for allowing government interference in the election and said the body was no longer entitled to conduct the poll.
The reason behind the development has been cited as possible manipulation of the recent IABF elections held in September this year.
The IABF had elected BJP MLA Abhishek Singh Matoria as its president in September this year with Abhay Singh Chautala as chairman.
The body had made amendments to its constitution to accommodate Chautala, creating the post of chairman in a meeting held in Patiala.
The AIBA official statement said: "Further to the International Olympic Committee's suspension imposed on the Indian Olympic Association, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Executive Committee Bureau has decided today, 6 December 2012, to provisionally suspend the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF).
"This provisional suspension is also due to the fact that AIBA had learned about possible manipulation of the recent IABF's election. AIBA will now investigate this election and especially a potential political link between IOA President, as former Chairman of the IABF, and the IABF election."
The international body at a meeting at Lausanne, Switzerland, took the decision.
The pure reason why this Indian hockey team has done well is that we have gotten rid of useless and dead weight players like Sandeep Singh,Shivender Singh,Bharat Chhetri,Ignace Tirkey,Tushar khandekar and a few more..instead youngsters like Kothajit,Rupinder Pal,Chandi,Akashdeep,Nithin Thimayya,Manpreet have been given a free role..look at the performance of the defence specially Raghunath..simply mindblowing :-O
Modern hockey's coaching legend for mumbai... what they could have expected for!!!!
but is mahindra stadium allowed to host hockey matches??? there was some news na?
Yeah there is fight going on for Mumbai Hockey Stadium-there are various stakeholders. Mumbai Hockey Association is closer to IHF so Hockey India wants to get rid of them. But Mumbai Hockey association also will not go away without fight and they will wrestle it out in court-that means lockdown of stadium for years, then it is Maharashtra government who has leased it to association, their sports department wants to control it. enter into fray Dabur family who owns Mumbai Franchisee for HIL, they want this stadium for the league. then Mumbai cricket association wants this stadium to close down so that they can expand parking facilities for Wankhede Stadium. Just like Cooperage, there is local builders lobby who wants to convert this stadium into open space/park and remove the turf so that they can put more construction nearby for commercial purposes. At cooperage they played the game of heritage-here they have propped up an NGO called awaaz and they say that there is noise pollution when hockey match is played ha ha ha so there should be no hockey there. the same buildings where they have trouble with noise from hockey will have dandiya whole night no problem but their greed over land wants to finish hockey . Its all tamasha and people like us who are sports lovers have to suffer due to greed of some people.
India hockey Team is struggling with injuries to key players. S V Sunil is already out of tournament and will be unfit for 6 weeks. Now Sardar Singh and Manpreet are expected to play despite injuries. Lets see how they fare in semifinals against Australia :-SS

now it is great that our youngsters will get an experience of playing aginast best of world in semis
The idea behind blue n pink smurf astro turf was to make it more attractive especially in Olympics as many countries there were not familiar with hockey. I think new upcoming stadiums may bring blue and pink turfs while Melbourne center is old facility-they will go with what they have - green turf. I personally would like to go back to natural grass with offiside rule. )

Why did world hockey return to green astro turf? Have they gotten sick of blue n pink already or the sense finally prevailed?
