FOX and ESPN have the national broadcasting rights along with Univision. All 3 show 3-4 games a week. Last season Univision would host their nationally televised game on Friday nights (Called "Viernes de Football") and then ESPN would show their match on Sunday afternoon and FOX would have their match right after. Every other game that weekend will be on Saturday, broadcasted by the local television channel. So, for example, if the Red Bulls are not playing on FOX, ESPN, or Univision, we would be on MSG, the local New York sports television channel which is only available for New York metro area residents (the game would also be on tv for the Red Bulls' opponent on their channel)
Now, lets say there is a game between the New York Red Bulls and Seattle but I am far away from both cities, in Houston, and the game is only on their local channels. I can't watch it in Houston on TV because their local channels are not available in Houston. In that case MLS has a thing called "MLS Live" where for $80 you can watch every game, every team, and you also get to watch the matches of past seasons all the way to 2010, with full matches available, 20 minute highlights, and 4 minute highlights. The price goes down to $50 at the halfway point and is really good.
So as you can guess based on the above, tonights game was on FOX and was shown nationally across the US. Tomorrow every game played is only available on local channels (besides LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas which is on Univision) and then on Sunday you have Orlando vs. New York City on ESPN and Atlanta United vs. Red Bulls on FOX.
@ashindia Apparently Minnesota United is withholding funds for the team until they open their stadium in 2018. They also got in Adrian Heath as head coach and he wasn't good for Orlando and they had Kaka and Cyle Larin, a young rising star. No one expects them to make the playoffs and honestly they are expected to be one of the worst expansion teams since Chivas.
Btw my friend who attended a Chennai Senior division match said that crowd was the same as Ccfc gets for I-League matches And evening games attracts better crowds
