Friends, just ignore this media gaga over Kerala National Games. The reason is very simple.

Kerala Government released a huge majority of PR funds to the Manorama Group (Manorama News, Manorama News Paper) for promoting the National Games leaving only a miniscule for the other news groups to feed on. All the negative news started to come out only after that. Manorama being the most widely read newspaper and news channel is going all out to promote the event while the other media groups are trying to bring out all sorts of negative news like corruption, poor facilities, incomplete stadiums and so on.

There's no need to read much into it!

main stadium in trivandrum will not be fully ready at time and astro turf imported for the reneovated hockey stadium in kollam damaged by the rats (some parts ) shooting range in thrissur also will not be ready at time...never had such a corrupt govt in Kerala before ....they paid all the money to get some mileage for thier govt not for games

Trivandrum Stadium will be completely ready only by June. It was always so right from the beginning. There are no events scheduled here, just the opening and closing ceremonies. The entire structure, roofing and the seats on the lower bowl will be completely fixed and a temporary turf will be put for the 2 ceremonies. The natural turf laying will happen only after the games. This isn't a big ask for an efficient contractor like IL&FS. They have even started fixing seats on the upper bowl ahead of the schedule now.

Only the covers of the hockey turf were damaged. The turf can't be eaten by rodents.

About the shooting range, the main venue is at Trivandrum which is a most modern facility and is 100% ready. Only the trap & skeet event is scheduled to be conducted at Thrissur

They should have done the natural turf of the Trivandrum Stadium for the Games. Once Games finish, there will be little desire or pressure to do it. Remember Mallapuram Football Stadium, they were supposed to have Floodlight Towers for Federation Cup more then 1 year back. They didnt do it, rather they made makeshift towers. Now what, still towers are not built.
Games is one moment where Sports Infrastructure is built in this country, we should not miss this opportunity.

In india we follow the same method to conduct weddings nd sporting events (like our former sports minister said) ...nd kerala is not diffrent..but jarkhand did better than this..

The decision to do the natural turf after the games was done to prevent damage to it by the opening and closing ceremonies.

By June 2015, the entire stadium complex including the Club House, Tennis Courts, Badminton Courts, Table Tennis Courts, Gymnasium, Olympic size Swimming Pool, Restaurants, Shops, and a natural turf laying will be completed.

This is a Design, Build, Operate, Transfer Stadium, the first one of it's kind in India. Starting from the middle of 2013, IL&FS will have ownership of this stadium including the construction period for only 15 years after which Kerala University will be the owner. If they don't finish the job on time, they will loose money and may struggle to recover their investments. As of now, they have done a remarkable job with the construction well on target to complete it within 2 years.

National Games was never the target for this stadium. If it was so, an athletic stadium would have been the result. The money was used to build a Cricket-cum-Football Stadium.
