I will repeat what I said a few months ago... no matter what happens at the end of the day, by the time the 2017-18 season comes around, someone will have gotten fucked over. Not everyone is going to be happy.
Will see how ISL will do after 5 years - 2021. If the ISL have 14/16 teams then it is success or else I do see ISL as I-League as NFL. If there is no pro/rel, You cant have 2nd division. what is the purpose of that , to feed ISL for free from someone's money.
I'm still wondering how can AIFF create virtual organistaion(ISL) to run and monitor Indian football. it is elected body, Just for peanuts they are taking for a ride on Indian football fans and Indian football
To be honest, I still can't believe we won't have Salgaocar and Dempo in I-League. Growing up always enjoyed matches against these two. Lots of memories, good and sad. Their contributions to Indian football is immense in terms of player development giving a platform for young local lads to perform at the national stage.
I see a restructure of AIFF, a legal recourse to renegotiate the contract with IMG-R and total disbandment of ISL circuses as the first steps forward. Anything else, IMO, is just further stupidity and degeneration.
Who was asking about post ISL results for NT? We lost to fucking Guam!
I don't have issue ISL being top tier but owner shouldn't be FDSL. The owner of ISL should be AIFF or Board of stakeholders (AIFF and Team owners). ISL or top tier should be pro/rel based. Every 2 years we should be adding additional teams till top tier reach 20 teams.
@Maddie Adding 2 teams every year to reach 20 teams would probably not be viable, esspecially since we already have some early problems with initial clubs. 10-12 teams from 2017 to 2020 would be perfect, by 2025 get to 14-16, 16-18 by 2030, and by 2034 get to 20. As for pro/rel, I am not getting into that, I support it but not at all initially until at least a decade or two from now. If even the J. League can do it, why can't we? Cause it ain't Europe.
Also, love some of the comments by Peter Vaz. "Where in the world does a professional league provide direct entries?" Quite a lot of leagues do.
"Where in the world do you pay a franchise fee to play in the top league?" Many leagues, including 4 of the top 5 richest leagues in the world.
Agree with him on the AIFF, but still should never deflect blame that should be put on him for Sporting Goa and how they were ran.
As for FIFA and the pro/rel thing, they can do something to AIFF but then what about the USSF, FFA, SFA, TTFA, NZF, AFF, FFAS, CIFA, SIFF, FFB, CFF, DFF, GFF, PRFF, BFF, CTFA, ANFA, TFF, and YFA. All these federations run leagues with no pro/rel.
Edit: Woops, forgot Canada is joining this list in 2018 while a proposal was put down in Argentina.
it is India, Content can be consumed. It is huge market. People will take it and hit the tier 2 cities, Crowds will be fantastic instead of messed up Tier 1 cities where turnouts is poor for domestic tourneys
