Very surprised to see the name of Dipsan Tirkey. Ramandeep can score goals and he is not there. S V Sunil is also at the end of his career now-cant rely much on him. Harjeet Singh, Talwinder were future according to me. Where is our expert @Bad
Guys,in my opinion the team looks weak in comparison to the opponents but this is what happens when you change the coach and support team. They need to time to identify their best players and combinations.
However,i feel that since India is scheduled to play atleast 4 Tournaments before the World Cup(Hwl,Asian Games,Commonwealth games and Azlan Shah) so this Tournament is being used as a Tester/Feeder Tournament for trying out different players and combinations and also to increase the player base which i agree to as well.
I feel that since we will be playing atleast 4 Tournaments for sure before the World Cup so different players and combinations could be tried at this time.
If i was the coach then i will give 2 Tournaments in order to identify my best team and after identifying my best team i will play atleast 2 full Tournaments with them with before the World Cup.
So,in my opinion the coach should play atleast 2 Tournaments with his best team before the World Cup.So,currently i am fine with him testing out players.
Regarding the squad,i still feel Sardar and Sunil still are very important to the team atleast till the World Cup 2018.Can"t say about Tokyo Olympics but certainly they are important as far as World Cup is considered.
Dipsan is not a bad inlcusion in my opinion.Among the Junior World Cup Squad,he is the best Tackler in my opinion. He is a better tackler than Harmanpreet,Varun and Gurinder and reads the game decently.
The negative he has is that he isn"t a drag flick option for penalty corners and hasn"t got the best of Scoops(Scoop is very important for the Defender for both Defensive purpose-Ball clearing from the defence when the opponent is playing High Press and also for Attacking purpose specially on Counter Attacks Scoop is very important which both Harman and Varun Have.)
Dipsan ,however will need to work on his Physique. He is light weight in comparison to Today"s Hockey Requirement.Playing as last man(Centre back) one must be Physically strong and Aggressive. Surender also lacks in this regard.Players like Rupinder ,Raghunath and Harman and in the past Dilip and Jugraj had/have these traits. All the better defenders India has produced in the last few years were Physically Strong and Aggressive.Dipsan currently doesn"t seem to have these traits but if Mangaes to put on a bit of Muscle and and Plays Aggressively, then he could be one of the better Defenders for India in my opinion but he needs Time.Atleast 2-3 years but he certainly has got the basic attributes in him according to me.
Meanwhile,World Championship of Weightlifting will be starting this week.We need to keep one eye on this Edition as i feel we could be Dark Horses for a couple of Medals. No one is giving any importance to this event but i feel that we have an oustside chance for atleast 2 Medals.
@Bad This World Championship has been turned into a farce. North Korea, Iran , Venezuela has been denied Visa. Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan has also been banned. Surely India can win a medla this time.
Second seed PV Sindhu sailed into the women's singles quarterfinals with a comfortable win over Japan's Aya Ohori in the Hong Kong Open Super Series on Thursday. Sindhu, who slipped a place to be number three in the world rankings released today, defeated Ohori 21-14, 21-17 in a second round match lasting 39 minutes.
The Indian faces another Japanese, fifth seed Akane Yamaguchi, in the quarterfinals on Friday. It was curtains for India in the men's singles after HS Prannoy went down fighting to Japan's Kazumasa Sakai 21-11, 10-21, 15-21 in a 54-minute battle.
