"Interestingly, the government of India
website calls hockey our national game but as per the Union Ministry of
Youth Affairs, India has no national game as such,"
What do you guys think? Is there any such information in Official Gazette of India or such document. @namewtheld
There is a difference between words "National" and "Official" and "Official Status". Then Central and State as per the Constitution of India. States can have their own Official languages.
Hindi is not National Language but Official Language of Government of India as per Article 343 of the Constitution along with English.
The official language of the Union shall be Hindi in
Devnagari script. The form of numerals to be used for the official
purposes of the Union shall be the international form of Indian
numerals.
Notwithstanding anything in clause (1), for a period of fifteen
years from the commencement of this Constitution, the English language
shall continue to be used for all the official purposes of the Union for
which it was being used immediately before such commencement:
Provided that the President may, during the said period, by order
authorise the use of the Hindi language in addition to the English
language and of the Devnagari form of numerals in addition to the
international form of Indian numerals for any of the official purposes
of the Union.
Notwithstanding anything in this article, Parliament may be law provide for the use, after the said period of fifteen years, of-
the English language, or
the Devnagari form of numerals,
for such purposes as may be specified in the law.
I was wondering whether same thing is in the sports also? Not National but Official.
India has played well in patches. SV Sunil missed 2 or 3 gilt-edged chances. How we miss Ramandeep, Satbir, Harjeet in such situations. Mandeep singh earned 2 Penalty Corners but they were squandered by poor Harmanpreet Singh. 1) Even commentators are questioning the logic of keeping S V Sunil in the team while keeping so many good players out. 2) Why the hell Rupinder Pal singh not taking Penalty Corners??
