The Motherwell FC linked-up could well be true. The agency/agent that represents Jhingan has close ties with the club's management. Dheeraj Moirangthem was also there for a two-month trial and was even reported to have bagged a three-year contract. But owing to work permit restriction, the India U-17 World Cup hero had to comeback home.
The Scottish Work Permit has a requirement that Dheeraj does not satisfy the requirement. So he was sent home.
It requires the player to be played 75% of the matches for the national team from last 2 years. Which Jhingan satisfies .
There is also another requirement, The country the player is representing, over the course of those two years, should have earned a place in the top-70 of the Fifa rankings on average. But India currently ranks 108 in the FIFA chart.
But there is also another possibility is Scotish work permits If the club really want the player they could break one of the rules to sign the player without any problems in work permits.
Unlike Jhingan's stats , Dheeraj is not signed because he does not even satisfy any requirements. So Jhingan to Motherwell is a possible and a good move.
@Raghs if it happens it'll be just a marketing ploy. He'll go there train for a few days. Motherwell will keep posting his videos and photos and try to get Indian sponsors, fail and he'll return and get a better deal at Indian club because of hype.
It won’t happen. Since India’s ranking is above 70, to obtain a work permit, the club trying to buy the player has to prove that he is “exceptional talent” not found within the country, and then within the continent where the club is located. For part of that reason is why he needs have played atleast 75% of NT matches in the last calendar year.
