It's still not over. IK are moving CAS against AIFF. Both IL & ISL will be affected.

Keep Churchill as Champion. Give entry to both in ISL.

That's the best possible solution. MDSP might make it even easier for AIFF and FSDL

I-League 2024-25: CAS rules in favour of Inter Kashi; overturns AIFF Apeals Committee's decision

Inter Kashi were due to receive three points after Namdhari FC fielded an ineligible player.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned the AIFF Appeals Committee’s decision regarding Inter Kashi, restoring the three points that were earlier taken away from the club following their controversial match against Namdhari FC, where the latter had fielded an ineligible player.

In an official statement, the club stated: “The CAS award overturns the decision of all the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) appeal committees, which had earlier deducted three points from the club in connection with its match against Namdhari. The order speaks for itself and the club does not wish to comment further on the matter at this time.”

Inter Kashi get much important three points againts Namdhari FC

The controversy dates back to a January 13 clash between Namdhari FC and Inter Kashi, where Namdhari won 2-0. Post-match, Inter Kashi raised serious concerns over Namdhari fielding Cledson Carvalho da Silva, popularly known as De, who they claimed was ineligible due to suspension.

According to Inter Kashi, De had already accumulated four yellow cards prior to the game and should have been serving a ban. Acting on this protest, the AIFF Disciplinary Committee initially ruled in Inter Kashi’s favour, awarding them a 3-0 forfeit win and docking Namdhari three points. However, the matter took a sharp turn when Namdhari appealed.

On March 27, the AIFF Appeals Committee overturned the decision and reinstated the original match result, sparking further discontent. Inter Kashi, firm in their stance, escalated the issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

During the legal proceedings, CAS directed the AIFF to withhold declaring Churchill Brothers as I-League champions until a final decision was reached. Eventually, on April 19, the Appeals Committee stuck to its reversal, backing Namdhari FC and making the CAS route Inter Kashi’s final legal resort. The incident not only questioned disciplinary consistency but also delayed the final standings of the I-League season.

What happens to I-League table now?

Inter Kashi were in fifth place in the I-League table with just 35 points from 22 games because of the number of points deductions that they received in the second half of the campaign. Well, they will now be able to get further up the table because of his new CAS verdict.

As per the ruling, Inter Kashi should be given three points from their win over Namdhari. As of now they have 38 points after 22 games. As a result, they will be catapulted up into second place in the I-League table in the final standings, four points behind Churchill Brothers.

For the time being, the Goan giants are still the undisputed winners of the 2024-25 I-League campaign as the drama around the title race refuses to mellow down with yet another case involving the same clubs is pending in CAS.
