I-League title race: Who’s leading, tiebreaker scenarios, and the Inter Kashi controversy
Who are in the title race?
After 21 matches, three teams are involved in the title race with one gameweek left.
1. Churchill Brothers – 39 points
2. Gokulam Kerala – 37 points
3. Real Kashmir – 36 points
How can each team win the I-League?
1) Churchill needs a point in its match against Kashmir.
2) Gokulam needs to win its final match against Dempo and hope Churchill loses its final game.
3) Kashmir needs to beat Churchill and hope Gokulam doesn’t win its final game.
What happens if teams finish level on points?
If teams finish level on points at the end of the league, they will be separated using the Head-to-Head criteria.
Who does it favour in the H2H criteria?
1) If Churchill and Gokulam finish level on points (40), then Churchill will win the I-League due to its superior H2H record. Churchill beat Gokulam twice this season in their meetings.
2) If Churchill and Real Kashmir finishes level on points (39), the latter will have to beat Churchill by a margin of 3-0 or more to go ahead on head to head record.
What’s the situation with Inter Kashi?
Inter Kashi, currently at 36 points, is out of the title race unless AIFF overturns its January 13 loss to Namdhari FC. The club protested the result, claiming Namdhari fielded an ineligible player, and is awaiting a decision from the AIFF appeals committee.
If AIFF rules in Kashi’s favour and awards three points, it would move to 39 points. However, to win the I-League, Kashi would still need to win its final match and hope Churchill loses to Real Kashmir.
The verdict is expected only after the season ends, leaving Kashi’s fate uncertain.

shouldn't it be decided now itself? why wait after season. it is also injustice to the team actually finishing 1st on the last matchday.
it looks like waiting for goal confimation after scoring and celebrating and VAR overrules it.
That regular suspense towards the end. I-league never fails to give us this.
I don't know why this league isn't popular.
It would have been popular if it was chosen to continue as primary league without any external intervention. I still remember the stadiums for most clubs were getting packed, representation starting to grow throughout the country and i-league clubs actually starting to invest in grassroots. We again are at a similar crossroads now, God and Aiff knows whats in store for us in future
I-League 2024-25: Rajasthan United appeal to AIFF over Real Kashmir fielding ineligible player
What happens to the title race if Real Kashmir is sanctioned?
With Real Kashmir, who are currently positioned third in the league with 36 points and still in the race for the I-League title, AIFF’s decision on Rajasthan United’s appeal will be very crucial.
If the match is forfeited, this could potentially alter the points tally by 3 points, bringing their total to 33 points, and directly impact the winning scenario of the teams in the I-League race pushing Real Kashmir to the fifth position.
As things stand, Aizawl FC have escaped relegation with a dominant 3-0 win over Namdhari FC in I-League. But it’s not done yet — Sporting Club Bengaluru, who drew 2-2 with Sreenidi Deccan (equaliser was offside) to finish 11th, still have a pending appeal with the AIFF Disciplinary Committee. One of SCB or Aizawl will join Delhi FC in I-League 2.
The full-time results for the I-League final day are here ! As things stand Churchill Brothers are provisionally the I-League 2024-25 champions as Inter Kashi await the fate of their appeal!
