From the above article -

"By the 2015-16 season onwards, not more than two teams from any particular venue/city would be allowed to play in the I-League except for Kolkata and Goa where not more than three would be allowed keeping in mind their historical contribution to Football."

By the 2015-16 season? can they? and how?

"AIFF’s Marketing Partners IMG-R made a presentation regarding the newly proposed League which kicks-off in January 2014."

Except this nothing much said about the IMG League.

Many of these rules regarding the 2nd Division also just seem to be desperate attempts by the AIFF to protect the 2nd Division and also the City/State cap rule is also a desperate attempt to make Indian football "pan-India". Eventually the AIFF will see that these regulations just won't work in real life.

My verdict is that AIFF just passing the buck. Not a single word on what they will do to improve I-league , revenue , popularity/marketability. just imposed rules on clubs ,some of which are just rubbish.
  • I also dnt see how they are going to increase the fans/audience visit the stadiums..what about promotions/marketing of the league and permanent broadcasters, timing of the matches...so we will have just 2 teams next season??
• I meant 2 new teams!!
