Not good enough. I think George Telegraph got tricked just like Delhi United and Kulikawn were. Both clubs were said to have players who were top scorers, internationals etc yet I simple backround check fails to deliver.
The guy Delhi United signed is said to have played in the American 2nd Division for Charlotte and 1st Division with Montrael. First of all if he really did play in the states in the 1st or 2nd tier he would have a wiki page as every player on American soccer wiki pages is created after 1 game. They are very thorough. Also Charlotte are not even in the 2nd tier. They are 3rd tier and Montrael are 2nd tier, not 1st tier (at the time he said he was with them). Also I know a couple of players from Charlotte who have never heard of him before. And Delhi United said their foreigner played in the 2009 U20 World Cup for Cameroon. Look at the squad... he is not named at all.
Same here. There is nothing about him. George Telegraph were tricked. Not new in Indian football though.
either clubs are being tricked or they do it deliberately. any club before signing new foreigner can sit on internet for 30 minutes and can get lot of details about him. It is impossible to beleive that clubs will sign somebody claiming that he played in 1st Tier of some country while he was in 3rd-4th tier instead. Possibility of corruption cannot be ruled out-signing a foreigner at some inflated official amount and actual amount given to him may be different. Thats why fan-based clubs are important. They keep pressure on club management. Corporate type clubs will give rise to culture of corruption, inflated payment/billing, tax evasion in Indian Football. In Real Estate business, lot of black money is involved and Indian Football should not become a channel of regularising that money.
Agree but arnt clubs like Delhi United and Kulikawn fan-based clubs? I think it is just complete incompetence from Delhi United and Kulikawn (who supposedly have the NPL top scorer for one of the clubs on their team... 1 goal all season in the MPL).
