BIG BREAKING : With just over a week remaining for the I-League 2024-25 season to kick-off, I-League clubs have threatened to boycott the league over the AIFF’s “unfulfilled promises” regarding broadcast of matches. [News9Sports]

The AIFF had assured the I-League clubs that the league would be broadcast on Sony this season, claimed Ranjit Bajaj.

“We have collectively decided that we’ll not participate, unless and until the broadcast agreement with Sony is confirmed, ensuring that the first match and all subsequent matches will be televised as promised.” [via News9Sports]

The I-League Clubs Association led by Ranjit Bajaj has sent a letter to AIFF secretary Anilkumar Prabhakaran on Thursday, demanding an immediate resolution to broadcasting commitments as no communication has been forthcoming on it. [News9Sports]

When contacted few clubs, they reiterated the same.

Reports have emerged of SSEN being the new streaming partners but there has been no official word on that possibility also.

Understand, I-League clubs to address the media tomorrow via a joint presser/statement.

Clubs unhappy over AIFF’s move to hand over streaming rights to an “untested OTT/App” with less than a week for the league to kick-off! Clubs demand better return for the investment they are making, claim fault in the manner tender has been handed over to an “untested OTT/App”
    ......................................................................................................................................................................................

More to this : AIFF & I-League clubs had agreed on to broadcast the matches LIVE on Sony Sports Network with clubs covering up to 50% of production cost. Sony eventually agreed on a 6+2 camera set-up with SRT at no cost.
AIFF then suddenly withdrew from this and have apparently decided to award the rights to Shrachi Sports.

I-League clubs accuse AIFF of floating dubious tender.
    .......................................................................................................................................................................................

I-League Clubs Association allege that AIFF has been pitching for a commercialised franchise based league to State FAs, see it as a threat to the state leagues and traditional clubs.

Claims lack of stakeholder consultation by the federation.
