History wise Salgaocar have always been the best Goan club, actually even better than Dempo.

Now good to see them rise again.
• Anthony Barbosa also missing from the list..but I think he is playing...isn't he a midfielder?

I'll forgive Salgaoncar for injuring my favourite player Odafa only if they win the i league as it is almost impossible for my team Churchill bros to win the i league now.

Jose are you from Goa? I have heard Salgaocar and SCG are the most supported clubs there. Is that tru? Or Churchill has made huge inroads thru their fanbase?

The Goans will support any club from Goa which does well unlike Bengal where a MB fan is totally against EB. But generally Vasco SC is the beloved club of the Goans as it was called as people's club & presently Goans love Sporting Clube de Goa.

i fully agree with jose. we in goa have fav clubs. but our next loyalty is towards any other goan team. we will always remain loyal to our national team.

I am a big dempo fan. Since childhood i have seen matches of salgaoncars and dempo. salgaoncars was a bigger name then. i remember savio madiera of Salgaoncars was very graceful.he is now the asst. coach of india. I remember watching brahmanand, bruno, derrick, lawrence, mauricio. bruno kick was a treat to watch. i have seen him practice. his Kicks from centre of the field would amaze me.

dempo has been good for the last six years. People talk about beto and Ranty. But the team is incomplete without the likes of Climax, mahesh,Samir,Clifford,Joiquim,Clifton, anthony,Peter. Of course one should not forget Armando.

Now it is pleasing to see likes of gilberto,Francis, clifton, anthony, cajetan, come up from these clubs and also to see jeje, debabrata, mehtab, anil kumar, and indian arrows lad perform

As regards to me
I am big dempo fan, then comes salgaoncars,Vasco. then comes any other goan club.

Party has already begun for Salgaocar

The celebrations have already begun and many are on their way from Goa to Ludhiana to be a part of the occasion. A draw will see them through; a win will surely do; and even a draw may just be enough for Salgaocar Sports Club, Goa. They know they are the Champions of I-League 2010-2011; almost.
“Yes, we are the Champions,” Salgaocar coach Karim Bencherifa told www.the-aiff.com. “C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S,” he reiterated. It was satisfied voice exclaiming his triumph in style.
“But it isn’t official as yet,” he added, as he went into calculations.
“Even if we lose, we end on 53 points. Dempo and Churchill can catch us there but we stay ahead of both,” he said.
The rules state if two teams finish on the same number of points, the Head-to-Head results between the two teams are taken into account. And even if that stays the same, the goal difference is considered.
“As we have beaten Churchill on both occasions, we stay ahead. And against Dempo, we won once; they won once. Both the matches finished 3-1. But we stay ahead on goal difference,” Bencherifa explained.
Salgaocar’s turnaround has been amazing. “It’s a team work. The boys, the support staff and the management all dreamt of winning it. And here we are,” he went on. For the record, Salgaocar stay on 53 points from 25 matches.
The Almighty did bring him close on two earlier occasions – once as coach of Churchill Brothers and once as the Mohun Bagan coach. But divine fate had then, intervened.
“I have no complaints. I know I have always done it the right way. Otherwise, every night when I go to sleep, I would have sleepless nights. My family has always stood by me,” Bencherifa professed.
Their rivals, JCT, in sharp contrast are battling relegation on 24 points from 25 matches. Coach Parminder Singh was straight when www.the-aiff.com caught up with him. “Do we have any option? We don’t. We have to win at any cost. A win land them the Championship; a win will save us from relegation,” he said.
What an irony! Salgaocar are gearing up to celebrate their I-League triumph on JCT’s home ground at the cost of a JCT loss. For obvious reasons, Parminder finds it hard to digest. “The match isn’t over as yet. That’s all I can say,” he added.
For the Green-brigade, it hardly matters. The party has already begun.
Dempo take on Air India: In another match, Dempo SC will lock horns with Air India. Dempo were very much in contention for the title till the last match but a 2-3 loss to Pune FC has upset all calculations. Dempo for the record stay on 47 points from 24 matches while Air India stay in relegation zone with 24 points from 25 matches.
ONGC challenge Mumbai FC: Elsewhere in Kohlapur, ONGC host Mumbai FC in another match. ONGC stay on 23 points from 25 matches while Mumbai FC stay on 33 points from 25 matches.
