You know what I mean and honestly I dont know what people mean when they say he is bad. For a guy who came in late November he has done pretty well IMO. Even yesterday he looked good but once again the service was not there. Riga does not create chances, he can come back, take the ball and move up a bit before having to pass the ball but most of the time I see him get the ball and then none of the Pune midfielders moving up to help him.
Also, what was up with the wing play yesterday? Riga stays in the middle of the box or the top of the box centrally when the ball in in the wing yet most Pune FC crosses are hit towards the keeper and thus making it harder for Riga to attack the ball as he has to deal with the keeper and 2 CBs. And if it is not a cross then Pune just lose the ball through bad decision making on the wing (as shown by Gurjinder Kumar yesterday).
For now you will not see Riga Mustapha do what he really can until something at Pune changes. Right now all Pune does is play deep on the attack and when they are forward they rush to get a shot away... if anything it is anti "Dutch style of play" (what, you mean passing is not all that matters).
Mike Snoei needs to be able to change the way Pune attacks. He needs them to go forward quicker and to have numbers forward to help teammates on the ball. He needs his fullbacks to be able to go forward more often and for another player to be available for a pass. He needs to get the crosses to go more towards the middle or to at least hit the target and he needs the midfielders in the midfield to be more patient and composed. They rush to much and it is because of that that Pune loses the ball to many times so easily. If they can work on being patient, pass the ball around, making the other team work and then finding Riga in the box (who can get into a good position) then you will see the Riga Mustapha who can score 15-20 goals a season in India.
