BFC beat Mohun Bagan ( they throw the game to hamper EB) , draw with Dempo and Sporting : 43 points
Salgaocar beat Pune FC , Sporting & Churchill but on head to head are behind Bengaluru FC : 43 points
East Bengal beat Pune FC once , lose once and beat Mohd. Sp, Utd SC & Churchill Brothers : 43 points
EB lost to Salgaocar at home and drew away / they did the double (2-0 twice) vs BFC : so head to head is better vs BFC but not Salgaocar
BFC did the double over Salgaocar ( 2-1 both games but 1st was awarded as a 3-0*) : so head to head is better vs Salgoacar but not EB
Salgacoar have the better head to head vs East Bengal but not Bengaluru FC !
Another way of looking at it is EB picked up 7 points from that possible 12 , BFC picked up 6/12 points and Salgaocar 4/12 points .....
Thus EB picked up the maximum points in the head to heads....
Here's the convoluted I-League regulations.....
The Winner of the I-League will be designated as the Champion Club of India
d. In the League matches, three (3) points shall be awarded for a win, one point for a draw no point for a defeat.
e. The ranking shall be determined in the order given below:
i. Higher number of points in all the matches.
ii. If this is the same, then by the result of the matches between the concerned teams, with the team securing the highest points in these matches placed higher.
iii. If even this is the same than the team having a higher goal difference will be placed higher.
iv. If the goal difference is the same, the team with the higher number of goals scored will be placed higher.
v. If still the winner cannot be decided, than the ranking will be decided by taking lots.
vi. However in case of relegation of a team, Art 18(f) will not apply and the team to be relegated shall be decided by having a play off between both the concerned teams at a neutral venue. The team that loses this playoff match will be relegated.
NB: If three or more teams are tied for the first or second place after the league matches and these teams have beaten or lost to each other (for example: team A, B and C are tied in points, team A has beaten team B and lost to team C: team B has lost to team A and beaten team C and team C has beaten team A and lost to team Page | 28
B then Art. 18.d .ii will not be applicable and the classification will be decided by following the system in Art. 18.d . iii, iv or v, as the case may be.
I am not a big fan of "Head to Head" rule. Goal Difference (Goals scored - Goals against) in whole league should be considered first if two teams have same points.
H2H was good when we had teams like air-india ONGC who could concede goals in dozens or half at times...so one team can swing the GD scenario by a single result but given that recently the gulf between the teams have reduced.. goal difference looks a more fair affair and makes the game interesting while the H2H make the league interesting only on paper
So no Cooperage Ground. I-League website confirms that Mumbai FC game will be held in Pune. Shameful indeed. They just used the stadium for charity match for Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan. For that they have stadium ready. For I_league, Cooperage Ground not ready.
