On paper, I can see Pune beating any Vietnamese club, and vs Muangthong Utd... anything can happen and it won't be easy but against Melbourne? You're gonna need more horsepower, guys.
Anyway, I am just wondering what Pune FC need to do. They have a good defense but the attack needs to be stronger. James Meyer has been average since October and needs to step it up. Douhou Pierre has been average this season and IMO not good enough for a team trying to at least attempt at the AFC Champions League. Calum Angus and Riga Mustapha are good enough.
There Indian players could be improved though. I understand that Pune FC is going in a different direction which involves more youth but they could use a lot more established Indian players. I do not believe having a guy like Shanmugam Venkatesh or youngsters like Vellington Rocha, Dhanpal Ganesh, and Mumtaz Akhtar help much. Also I dont believe having an oldie like Prakash Thorat rot away in the reserves help. They just waste spots.
Why not try adding in guys like CK Vineeth or Lalkamal Bhowmick (depending on if they leave United as per gaffer). They need something Pune or they wont get past Muangthong.
