Football captain Sunil Chhetri's car damaged in fracas
The captain of the Indian football team, Sunil Chhetri's Audi was damaged by a group of youngsters over an altercation in the parking area of the Karnataka Football Association stadium, near Garuda Mall on Saturday morning.
However Chhetri fearing damage to his reputation is said to have not filed a complaint against the youth who damaged his car. Chhetri drove away in his damaged car and left the stadium premises after the police intervened
The two suspects Damodar, son of a local businessman who owns a chain of retail business outlets and a football player Shushendran have been taken into custody by the police for further questioning.
On Saturday morning, Chhetri had come to the stadium on official business. Damodar, along with Shushendran, reportedly approached Chhetri in the parking lot as he was leaving, asking that Shushendran be given the opportunity to play for Bengaluru FC. Chhetri who represents the club said he wasn't responsible for the selection of players.
Averbal altercation then ensued between Chettri and the duo. Chhetri then went to his car, followed by the two men, who then allegedly threw a stone at Chhetri's car, damaging it. The Ashoknagar police, who were informed of the matter, rushed to the stadium and took Damodar and Shushendran into custody.
Sandeep Patil, DCP (Central) confirmed the incident and said Chhetri had not filed a formal complaint, even though his car had been damaged.
