DD era-when they had monopoly-commentators were allrounders. Jack of all trades, masters of none. Anupam Gulati, Charu Sharma, Ghaus Mohammed, Jasdev Singh, Novy Kapadia comes to my mind. From Hockey, Cricket to Boxing, Wrrestling and even Republic Day Parade -all were same commentators. They never had this vision to either improve or groom the next generation of commentators. Rather the emphasis was to occupy the seat. News Private channels like Aaj-Tak has brought yelling type of journalists with shrill voice. Basic ability to even speak one sentence properly in English or Hindi has gone to dogs. Neither knowledge nor ability to communicate properly-their only interest is getting the Broadcast rights and earning from ads. Our training schools where they teach communication, Broadcast, journalism-they are to blame also for poor quality.
This years CFL was evenly contested after a long time for the following reasons:- 1. Matches finished on schedule. 2. Related to point 1 but thanks to that the small teams were able to retain their foreigners for the whole season. 3. Players from EB and MB leaving for ISL thus forcing the clubs to use youngsters. 4. The Shree Venkatesh Flims sponsorship to Tollygunge Agragami of ₹10 crore allowed them to recruit players that played in Ileague or CFL for the big three clubs. 5. Md sp also played well and took extra motivation from the press conference. (Armando and Subhash both disregarded it as a derby) 6. Star India marketed CFL well thus making sure that the trp reached the levels of FIFA WC
SLFC started using Juniors in Shillong League since 2010 and BFC also did the same this year in BDFA League...must be a consequence of Pradyum Reddy.
Incidently Pune FC also doing this since their 2nd season.
Not always going to have success...as SLFC got relegated from local league when they did this ( Bulpin era) & Sporting Goa will struggle to defend their title this time around.
Its also been a while since PFC YOUTH won the mighty PDFA league.
The CFL is far to competitive and of a higher standard to expect current youth to manage to compete against the likes of a full strength Aryans or Tollygunge
