Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is unique in a way. He is a young goalkeeper. He can go somewhere like Staebek, ride the bench, play for the reserves, and still develop well. But then you have say, Manandeep Singh. He trialed in the 2nd Division of Norway but even then, if he does not play, then what is the use? He is a striker, strikers and outfield players overall usually get the best out of themselves as players in their 20s so players need to be playing whereas keepers like Gurpreet can afford to go abroad and learn and adapt from the bench/reserves.
Basically, easy to say that players should do what Gurpreet is doing but then again, a lot harder to actually have happen and be successful.
All the NT's are playing international friendlies and we are still arguing over whats's wat , PP not suited fr leadership of AIFF , he lacks the will to do things
Agree. Guess what I am saying is that they should go abroad but don't expect to or try to go for something that Gurpreet has. Sandhu is at a top Norwegian club and soon to be Europa League side.... no one else in India can do that.
They need to choose wisely when going abroad. Part of that is what made Mexico better these last couple years (along with youth development) since a lot of them ignore money and decide to go to Europe and also European sides they can play for.
Brazil was the wrong move for Romeo simple. Lower European leagues should be the aim IMO. The Scandinavian leagues are a real good opportunity for the best Indian players to get too, and VISA is usually not a big issue there. While some of the old eastern block countries has decent leagues, I doubt Indian players will settle there.
IMO, after the ISL finishes, there is an opportunity to try your luck on a loan basis. One of the biggest things when trying to get a transfer is contacts, especially at a lower level. Indian players need to find better representation that the likes of Baljit Rihal.
for a outfield player game time is necessary to get accustomed and to develop. while as aa gk gurpreet featured each amd every reserve league fixture, romeo wasn't even in bench in most of the state league matches. only training at this age will not be that much helpful, specially for a player of his position. if he was 16/17/ even 18 years old then it was okey. On the other side Gurpreet is GK. his learning curve is totally different.
This is something that I see all the time in American and Aussie soccer. Lots of players play a few games, think they are the shit at just 20-23, and go abroad to Germany or something and then get confused when they have to return to the states or Australia.

Many won't go to Europe as salary is very less compared to what they get in India
also they will get much better game time here.
Gurpreet kinda players are rare who care for there development and agree to warm benches
Even if they go like Romeo will come back in months telling lack of game time
