Sanjoy Sen has never been able to spot the right player. There is saying - "horses for courses" policy. Not a single player, that he had suggested have lived upto the billing and then it was he only who blasted the players of his choice for non performance. Last year he brought in Anwar, Denson, Devarani in the I League and all of them failed.
This year in the CFL, after playing two goalless matches,he brought in Dudu and Asif - only to be shown the exit door; not to speak about his choice of Gustavo.
Now he is toeing the same line - "Glenn has been brought to score", which he said about Dudu earlier.
Glenn is 36, while Boya was 32. Sure Boya had some fitness issue, but he was unfit how could he serve the club for the entire season? Also if he wasn't fit enough, he wouldn't have lend support to defence and controlled the pace of the game. Most importantly, he was a good leader on the field.
Its better Sen stick to his words and not edit them to suit his needs. If Glenn fails, Sen's balls should be chopped straightway!
After seeing so many good Foreign players in ISL, why they still stick with oldies like Glenn???
One thing this I-League should have profited from ISL in getting rid of Dudu, Ranty, Glenn and sign some new players. But they still keep them year after year older, slower and more unfit.
There is a reason for it. ISL is in the second season, and till date we haven't seen ISL foreigners joining I-League clubs (Dong being the exception possibly, if my memory serves me right), but its other way round. Thats b'cos none of the I-League clubs can afford these foreigners; also since ISL is marketed well (and the likes of Carlos, Zico, Malouda, Anelka, Mutu etc being associated with it), the tournament has better acceptability to these foreigners as opposed to I-League. Money apart, there isn't any motivation for them to look forward to in I-League. So howsoever hard a club might try to rope in even an avg ISL foreigner, chances are he won't take the offer(unless ofcourse he doesn't have anything else to do and can charge a bomb, which the I -League clubs can pay him!)
It can be other way also. If they do well in I-league, they will be taken in ISL. If Sony Norde was not in I-League, I dont think he would have been in ISL.
The success rate of foreigners playing in I-League, who have been bought by ISL is pathetic. Hence u will see almost all known names(foreigners) of I-League went missing in ISL2, after the franchisees saw their "quality" in ISL1. Therefore, this also is an indicator to the ISL foreigners to assess the quality of the "real" league in India and hence they haven't shown much interest in I-League
Some of the best foreigner in ileague were not in ISL as they probably didn't qualify for the " played 1 European match a decade ago, so I am vaguely familiar to yuppies" tag
Taisuke/ osano/katsumi/dong would definitely do well
@deepakc You think you deserve a response? How about you create an argument without referring to reality shows and having to play in Europe a decade ago and we will talk? Grow up man, you make yourself look like a fool most of the time.
