Mohun Bagan has roped in physical trainer Michael Johnson Abotsi for the 2019-20 football season. The 45 year old trainer from Ghana has vast experience of strength and conditional coaching in various countries.
Before agreeing to the deal with Mohun Bagan, Michael was working as the strength and conditional coach for Highland Park Football Club, Johannesburg for the past eight seasons. Michael previously worked as head physical training coach for Ghana Weight lifting team and Nigeria Police weight lifting sport team. He was Strength and Gym conditional coach for Orlando Pirate Football Club, Johannesburg. He also worked as a conditional power training coach for Gold Lions Rugby Team. Michael’s specialty is to prepare athletes and sports persons to avoid injuries and enhance their power and fitness. He is also an expert in fast injury recovery and rehabilitation process.
Mohun Bagan has also appointed Dipankar Chowdhury as the Goalkeeper coach. Dipankar has completed AFC C license coaching certification along with AFC Goalkeeping level-1 certification. Dipankar was working as Ozone FC Goalkeeping coach and assistant coach. He was appointed by AIFF as a scout for Indian national team for U-17 world cup, U-23, U-19, U-16 teams.
Mohun Bagan F.C. directors finalized both these appointments after a detailed discussion with the head coach Kibu Vicuña. While talking with the website directors Mr. Srinjoy Bose and Mr. Debasish Dutta told – “These appointments are in the best interest of the football team and these support staffs will guide the footballers to the next level using latest techniques and modern approaches.”

Kolkata, June 5, 2019: Mohun Bagan has signed Spanish central defender Francisco Morante Martínez today for the season 2019-20. He is popularly known as Fran Morante. The 26 year old defender is from Córdoba, Spain. Fran has played in Segunda Division B for Internacional de Madrid in the season 2018-19. He played 28 matches last season, which included 27 league matches and 1 COPA DEL RAY encounter and scored two goals.
He is a player who stands out for good positioning, strong aerial presence and provides dependency in defense. Earlier he has played for clubs like Granada CF, Córdoba CF B, CD Badajoz and Real Murcia.
