Mumbai City who have won 2 matches and Drew one match in preseason wasn’t ready to taste their first defeat in UAE soil , Mumbai City’s 4th preseason match kicked off at Humaid al Tayer stadium Yesterday evening against UAE Division one side Al Arabi.
This was first preseason match for Mumbai City FC Marquee Diego Forlan, the match kicked off at 07:30 local time with 6 Indians started for Mumbai who’s attack was controlled by Forlan and Sony Norde along with Jackichand, Goalkeeper Albino Gomes, Ashutosh Mehta, Anwar Ali, Sehnaj Singh,David Lalrinmuana were the other Indians to Start.
While progressing the first half Al Arabi scored their first Goal overcoming Albino Homes who was doing a lazy job under the bar . Despite playing good football and having ball possession Mumbai City had to Concede second Goal just before the Half Time whistle!
Coach Alexandre Guimaraes didn’t hesitate to replace Goalkeeper Albino Gomes who wasn’t doing a good Job with the most trustable custodian Roberto Volpato at the beginning of the second half itself. In second half there was totally different Mumbai City as Forlan-Norde-Jacki Trio started to attack Al Arabi fence repeatedly which Kept Al Arabi GK busy !
Most of the time Ball was in Al Arabi’s court and Anwar-Ashutosh-Gearson Trio stood like a wall in Mumbai City defense which made Roberto Volpato stay relaxed under the bars . At 67th a free kick taken by Matias was successfully touched in to the Goal by Gearson to close the Gap between the two teams !
After 3 minutes Substitute Boithang Haokip netted a stunner to drew the scoreline With two wins and two draws , Mumbai is having superb preseason and showing the signs that “they will be there in upfront for the ISL Title Race” . Mumbai City’s next friendly match in Dubai could be on 19th September – which is yet to be confirmed by the club.
