Mumbai City FC have instituted a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Navi Mumbai to impart training to kids from their grassroots coaches.
A first of it's kind for the club, the CoE aims to train children under the age of 9 in lieu of the ISL franchise's Grassroots Programme. Mumbai City FC's CEO Indranil Das Blah elaborated on the move, "Right from the beginning of season one, grassroots development has been something that we at Mumbai City FC have taken with utmost importance."
He further added, "Having reached out to thousands of kids, coaches and parents over the last two years via our workshops and festivals, we believed that it is the right time now to start our own Centres of Excellence."
Blah mentioned that the city of Mumbai would soon many many CoE with kids for each centre to be shortlisted via scouting camps.
"The CoEs are aimed at providing regular, specialised coaching to kids in the under-8 and under-9 age groups across Mumbai. We will have dedicated centres and coaches in multiple zones across Mumbai. The kids for each of the CoEs will be shortlisted through scouting camps to ensure a level playing field for all," he said.
Mumbai City FC will hold a scouting camp at Ryan International School, Sanpada from April 19-22, 2016 and training for the selected kids will begin from May 2, 2016 at the same venue. To register for the scouting camp and for further queries, please write to [email protected]
