Michael Chopra gets furious, asks back the eligibility of Constantine! Image : XtraTime
Kolkata : The British forward of Indian origin Michael Chopra sparked controversy after the pre-season training session for his ISL franchise Kerala Blasters Football Club today at the Mohun Bagan ground in Kolkata.
The former Newcastle United forward who showed his interest to dawn the Indian national team jersey a few days back was immediately turned down by the British Coach of Indian national team, Stephen Constantine.
Today after the training, when www.xtratime.in asked Chopra about his reaction regarding the gesture by the Indian coach, he reacted with a lot of grief as he said,”Well, Stephen Constantine can say whatever he wants. Personally, it’s not a problem for me. What I see, does he achieve anything in the game? I don’t think he has! As a player, did he achieve anything in the game? The answer is no!”, he added, “As a manager what did he achieve? Yes, as an Indian manager he has done well in India but he had been in Rowanda and other countries. I will wait till the other managers take over his job. Let’s see what happens!”.
On the other hand, East Bengal midfielder Mehtab Hossain trained at his arch rival Mohun Bagan’s ground after 10 long years in the Kerala Blasters’ jersey today. Though Mehtab couldn’t give any reaction owing to the ISL protocols.
