Internet Desk: Indian U17 football team produced a stellar performance to beat European superpower Italy U17 team today at Arizo, Italy. This has been the first victory for the Indian colts against any significant outfit of world football. It was Abhijit Sarkar and Rahul Praveen who found the back of the net to give the Indian U17 team this illusive victory.
The Indian team was solid at the back right from the start to frustrate the Azzuri brigade. India took the lead in the 31st minute when Abhijit Sarkar’s cross took a wicked deflection and went in. The goal gave a lot of confidence to the Indian colts as they started attacking more to break the famed Italian defense. The teams went to the half time break with the Indian team leading the scoreline by 1-0.
Everyone expected the Italian colts to bounce back, but the Indian brigade had other ideas. Komal and Rahul started to build a lot of pressure on the famous opposition. India got their insurance goal in the 80th minute when Rahul Praveen scored a fine goal to make it 2-0.
No doubt, this has been a huge morale-booster for the Blue Tigers before the FIFA U17 World Cup.
