One has to define the FREEBIE. If there are sponsors, they are given the free passes.Suppose LG or SAMSUNG is the sponsor, all the shops, distributors or these companies in that city get pass which they or their friends/family can use it. Makemytrip.com is sponsor, so travel agents in connection to that will get passes. In our country, the PASS culture is prominent. Many people will not go to stadium unless they are given PASS.
1) Are they (Pass holders) counted in say I-League attendance? Do they have any pass with barcode or just herded inside stadium without counted against attendance?
2) ISL and even IPL has never been clear in number of free pass. In Cricket matches, these Passes form bulk of stadium attendance. But there they count them as attendance.
The thing is (my opinion) ileague so shittly marketed/promoted that no self respecting family will go for 2pm match in April. There are barely any serious sponsors/ event partners...so the chances of free passes are miniscule....clubs have an incentive to maximise gate revenue as there are very few other revenue options . My estimate is that free passes would be less than 5% for the league (BFC may have higher but AFC will have much lower than average.)
ISL is marketed so much more with sponsors taking active interest. Also family's wouldn't mind getting a pass for a well organised 90 minute event in the evening with song and dance. My estimate of free tickets here would be a minimum 40%.
I'm pretty sure Delhi didn't have more than 2k paying customers for any of their home games.
Tickets at ISL matches cost from Rs100- 500 (excluding the hospitality). Prices are very much affordable . Has everyone simply decided to ignore the fact that there is a chance of selling out these low priced tickets? Delhi tickets were priced at as low as Rs 50, one of the biggest reasons why delhis attendance rose this year.....A well marketted and promoted league will automatically boost ticket sales unlike the I league. ISL tickets are sold at numerous outlets , be it offline or online. Accessibility to ticket counters is one prime reason for increased ticket sales in ISL. Noone is denying free tickets disbursed in ISL games, but 40% free tickets sounds hilarious.
Estimate of 40% free tickets is way over Exagerration. Like i said a Max 15%-20% tickets (Free Loaders, Sponsers, Friends, Wags, Wag families, Sundry Bullshits).
Tickets are priced decent enough although they did increase ticket prices by 30-40% in Chennai but that hasnt stopped the crowds from coming in.
Best viewpoint from to the Middle of the pitch costs 500/-.
Delhi tickets were the lowest. Even though i think there were 25% as freebies majority did pay. As for following, DDfc spend zero in marketing ,yet the crowd come for ISL as a brand and the fact that delhi doesn't have a football club and younger crowd want to see football.
There are no free tickets but Sponsor quota tickets every sponsor of the club is given close to 200-400 tickets which they give out there workers, friends etc.
