He did very well as Tamil Nadu head coach and won the local league a couple times... he deserves a chance at least to show what he can do in the I-League. Especially if he has a license.
Plus ccfc has different philosophy than other clubs.
When the club formed ,most people said "now our Tamil players don't need to go anywhere to play i-league " so i don't expect players from other regions. Only foreigners.
Plus they have weather advantage. Play match at 4pm and most teams will struggle in hot and humid environment. But all from same region, they will play united and for Tamil Nadu.
So I guess they will surprise. Interesting to see where they finish
Internet Desk: The Hero I-League 2017 is not too far away and the top I-League clubs have already started to equip themselves for the forthcoming season. The foreigners do play the most important role in Indian football and like other teams, NorthEast giant Shillong Lajong has also started to recruit quality foreigners to challenge the others.
Financial crisis is nothing new to foootball clubs in this country and Shillong Lajong FC too have certain limitations. Still Coach Thangboi Singto, who has been associated to this club for years now, has been choosing his team with his usual tactical prowess.
If the visa doesn’t become a spoilsport, then I-League will witness its first ever Romanian player as they are in final discussions with a powerful and talented Romanian defender who has played his club football in some of the top clubs of the Middle-East Asia.
Apart from the Romanian defender, they also have finalized deals with Brazilian forward Fabio who played for them in the last season as well. In the Asian quota, they have signed Japanese central midfielder Yuta Kinowaki who played for Aizwal FC last season. Cameroonian playmaker Dipanda who played for DSK Shivajians in the previous season is also waiting for his visa approval to join Shillong Lajong.
In the new season, with some quality NorthEast talents, the new foreigners will certainly blend the solidity in the Lajong side to become a force to reckon with.
@thebeautifulgame I know it's a small thing but do post the link as well so we can give these pages the views they deserve for giving us such information.
