Haha enough of jokes, we need a good thread for Chinese football though we and them do not hope to cross paths anytime soon except in BRICS football. And any fruitful discussions on the subject should have a better title. Thanks to @ArsenalFan700 for reviving this thread.
I don't think China is only buying great players, they are into development of the grassroots, though not in they way we are doing it -- the 'let's football' way. Hundreds of new pitches, thousand of enrolled kids, coaches and the works. This certainly is going to pay back.
Even though China invests a lot in football. Somehow I feel their approach is not right. Its amazing how North Korea does better than them despite being a fellow communist state with way lower investment comparatively.
@ashindia Football is not the numero uno priority in these big nations USA, Russia, China. They do well in Olympics, Winter Olympics. China has really conquered Olympics in last 30 years - so their next challenge is Football, Golf, Tennis. Due to Civil War, diplomatic conflict with western nations, recognition of China name to Taiwan, China was out of the Sports fraternity. I think from 1958 to 1978, China was not a FIFA member while North Korea was already participating in World Cup in 1966. They lost many years.
North Korea is a mystery. A country affected by mass migration (population of South Korea is 5 cr whereas North is 2.5 cr strong -- just half), famines, no industries, no economy as such, yet a nuclear power and a football powerhouse. A lot ot is attributable to the dictats of their ruler.
China is better. They do have a football culture, and a football eco-system. Plus, their prez provide the necessary (well, more than that).
