FC Pune City had to settle for sponsorship deals worth Rs 7 crore while Mumbai City FC surprisingly couldn't pocket more than Rs 6 crore.
FC Goa's final appearance that guaranteed them Rs 4 crore as the runners-up prize money saved them of more embarrassment. Had they not made it to the final, FC Goa's total earnings from all sources would have been among the least as well.
According to sources, FC Goa earned a total revenue of approximately Rs 19.89 crore. FC Goa's revenue was earned through sponsorship (Rs 6 crore), tickets (Rs 3 crore), prize money (Rs 4 crore), central revenue share (Rs 6.75 crore) and other income (Rs 14 lakh).
Approximate sponsorship for teams: Atletico de Kolkata (Rs 14 crore), Chennaiyin FC (Rs 13.50 crore), Kerala Blasters FC (Rs 13 crore), Delhi Dynamos FC (Rs 10 crore), NorthEast United FC (Rs 10 crore), FC Pune City (Rs 7 crore), Mumbai City FC (Rs 6 crore), FC Goa (Rs 6 crore).Panaji: The marketing team at FC Goa will have to do a lot more during this edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) after finishing at the bottom of the sponsorship pool last season.
FC Goa became Goa's most iconic brand last season as fans celebrated the franchise's amazing run to the final. The Nehru Stadium in Fatorda was sold out for all league matches while people fought to get their hands on a prized ticket from black marketeers for the final against Chennaiyin FC. The hosts conceded two goals in the last three minutes and lost the final 2-3 but nobody was left in any doubt about the brand's popularity.
Off the field, however, FC Goa left a lot to be desired. Figures made available to TOI show how the Goan franchise got the least amount from sponsorship deals after failing to convince the big guns to associate with them. FC Goa had FC Prime Markets as its principal sponsor, besides QNet, DSK Dream City, Ponds, Lemos Foundation and Adidas as the associate sponsors. But all that the franchise could pool together from sponsorship deals was approximately Rs 6 crore.
In sharp contrast, Atletico de Kolkata - who won the maiden ISL title - had 24 associate sponsors, a huge leap from the eight they had during the inaugural edition of the ISL in 2014. Atletico de Kolkata, not surprisingly, received Rs 14 crore from sponsorship alone while following them closely were ISL champions Chennaiyin FC with sponsorship deals totalling Rs 13.50 crore.
This year, Kolkata are close to matching their record of being the highest grossers from sponsorships. They have already retained Birla Tyres as their main shirt sponsor and are certain to sell all six slots on the team shirt.
From among the other teams, Kerala Blasters fared well with sponsorship deals. They had one title sponsor and four associate sponsors, fetching the franchise co-owned by Sachin Tendulkar Rs 13 crore. Delhi Dynamos FC and NorthEast United FCraked in Rs 10 crore each through their main sponsor and three associate sponsors.
Based on FIFA TMS logic we can also conclude that, ATK with an average age of of 28.4 is a better team than Manchester City with an average age of 28.7
Kingfisher gives almost 10 crores/year to EB single-handedly. Can't believe some ISL clubs couldnt beat that sum despite all good broadcast and promotions.
