USA olympic commitee runs like a charitable organisation taking donations for tax purposes . but even without govt funding, they have a budget of 1 billion dollars for a 4 year cycle including hundreds of millions of dollars from NBC every year for Summer and Winter Olympic broadcasts. Then they manage facilities and training centers like in Colorado Springs, Lake Placid, Chula Vista
various federations earn money.
They also have a University sports eco-system
By contrast how much our Indian olympic committee makes in return from Sony / DD Sports for Broadcast ? and Federations ? Thats why govt funding is necessary in India.
Govt jobs are necessary for motivation and survival of olympic sports players.
