Continuing with its future development program to groom talented youngsters, AIFF is sending India Under-19 team to participate in the prestigious Weifang Cup, scheduled to commence from 31st of July in Shandong City, China. Team India has been clubbed in Group-B, alongside Chinese club side Shandong Lueng FC, FC Adelaide from Australia and the world famous Benfica Academy of Portugal. Group-A consists of China U-19 team, Villarreal Academy of Spain, Mexico’s FC Guadalajara Chivas and South Korean side FC Chunna Dragons. India will begin their campaign against the hosts Shandong Lueng FC in the inaugural match of the tournament, scheduled to be played on July 31st.
This international exposure will be an invaluable experience for the Indian youngsters who will get a golden chance to lock horns with some of the top Asian and European academies, including Under-19 teams from Spanish giants Villarreal and Portuguese power-house Benfica. The team had a three-weeks’ preparatory camp in Shanghai, under the watchful eyes of Chief Coach Colm Toal. Assistant Coach Syed Shabbir Pasha, who is a former Indian international, reckons that the preparation has been satisfactory and all the players are in good condition.

As the first game is very important for both sides, both teams are in the game sent the strongest team. Shandong Luneng home game is battling, occupied the field active. The first 4 minutes, 10 members of Shandong Luneng after the formation of single-pass from teammate shot, but was the Indian National Youth Team goalkeeper to attack the ball in time to resolve. 16 minutes, the super marking the frontier closed area use the other's mistakes are not tight, straight to the point Qiangdian 16 players shot, the ball flew off on to the post. 23 minutes, the super 9 frequently go past the opponent defense, outsmarted the other ball in front of the undercut, 6 plug blank range in time, but the ball was saved the bottom line. The first 29 minutes, the super team, No. 9 Chen Hao teammates again in close cooperation with, turned to volley first ball, assists the Liu Binbin.

From the scene point of view, although Shandong Luneng took advantage of the first half, but the Indian National Youth Team also prevent sticking, left suddenly grab the right, battling on the door repeatedly Luneng threat to end the first half without scoring , Luneng 1-0 lead.

Easy side battles the second half both sides, behind the Indian team is also eager to win, just-field issue on the super fast attack, 1 minute, the Indian team nearly scored an own goal. Then Luneng 19 Wu Xinghan collusion Liu Binbin assists header, to rewrite the score 2-0. Market situation has been extremely beneficial for the super. But this time, the Indian team but not rash, in the close defense, while Chouzhunshiji frequent attack. In the 52nd minute and 67th minute respectively, 11 and 22 by the break line of defense, each scored a goal to pull the score to 2:2 level.

National Youth team at home 2-2 draw in India's achievements, perhaps the players in Shandong Luneng not satisfactory, but we believe they will sum up experiences, lessons learned in the morning of August 1, against Benfica, Portugal The game has achieved remarkable results. We look forward to the boys in Luneng "Weifang to" go further, the last laugh.

INDIA WERE DOWN 2-0 AND CAME BACK TO DRAW 2-2 !!!
  • Good result against a team which is essentially the home team.

Hoping for a better match report from AIFF site.
