FA Shield: East Bengal settles for a draw against Pathachakra in a controversial game

Kolkata: The U-19 IFA Shield match between East Bengal and Pathachakra held at the East Bengal club ground saw late drama after the match ended in a 2-2 draw amidst allegations from both the teams.
After the end of the match East Bengal coach, Ranjan Chowdhury said “They (Patha Chakra) have played with aged players. They have played with players whose age are of 22-24 years”
However Partha Sen, the coach of Patha Chakra said “ After the end of 4minutes of injury time, the referee continued the game for extra five minutes and taking this advantage the opposition scored”.
In reply to Chowdhury Sen retorted, “We have submitted the passport and bio-datas to IFA. The proof is with them”.
After the end of the game, the Patha Chakra players crowded the Orissa’s ref Prasanta Pal and the linesman. Coach Partha Sen however removed his players from the spot.
Santosh Trophy winning player from Bengal, Monotosh Chakladar too played for Pathachakra in this match.
However the East Bengal coach also added that he failed to understand the extensive use of foul language by the opposition u-19 players is highly unacceptable.
A brilliant goal from Vidyasagar Singh gave the hosts an early lead at the 20th minute mark, however 13 minutes later Supratip Barui equalized for the visitors and ultimately gave his side a 2-1 lead at the 44th minute when he scored his brace after a mistake from East Bengal defender Mehtab Singh.
However at the end of the match, the match official showed 4 minutes of added time. As per allegations 5 minutes of added time was played by the ref and Lalchandhima scored for the hosts there by making the score of the tie to be 2-2.
After the final whistle was blown, the visiting team players surrounded the referee and the assistant referee while the Patha Chakra officials removed the players from creating a big scene.
East Bengal last match against Mohamedan at Howrah Stadium on 4th which will decide which team would go through to the semis from this group.
