What a goal. Just think about standard of our leagues. U18 youth players pumping in 3 goal with majority of ball possession by them in the entire match. First half itself they had 60-% ball possession. Our leagues are subscribed standard to state the least
The All India Football Federation (AIFF)'s development side, Indian Arrows produced the latest player to rewrite the history books in the I-League. Defender Jitendra Singh became the youngest ever goal-scorer in the history of the I-League when he broke the deadlock in his team's encounter against Shillong Lajong in New Delhi.
Jitendra was 16 years, 6 months and 13 days old when he scored on Tuesday afternoon, earlier having represented the nation in it's first ever FIFA U-17 World Cup appearance in October 2017 at home.
The youngster who learnt the trade at Kolkata-based United SC's academy teams before he was picked up by the AIFF scouting network played two games in the World Cup as he started the first match against the USA and returned for the game against Ghana after being dropped for the Colombia game.
The record was earlier held by Minerva Punjab's Baoringdao Bodo, set last year when he scored against Mumbai FC aged 17 years, 3 months and 18 days old.
The Indian Arrows recorded their second win of the campaign with a 3-0 result. Floyd Pinto was in-charge of the team while head coach Luis Norton de Matos was on leave for Christmas.
@souravindia. Arrows have done well in two matches. In other games they were outplayed. We can't say that all i-league club standard is poor. @indianFootballFan these Ambedkar Stadium fans are all opposition team supporters. They should have anticipated good crowd whenever Lajong, Neroca and Aizawl visit Delhi given the North East people living in Delhi. But AIFF is more concerned about protecting the market of ISL but have no qualms about damaging i-league.
good result by AIFF boys. Honestly I was not expecting us to beat Lajong but this was good. Glad to see Nongdamba score, he is very talented. Not sure how Minerva found him
