Minerva Punjab Football Club (MPFC), the premier soccer outfit for North India and the sole representative in the ongoing Hero I-League, has been nominated by the Federation of Football Coaches in India (FFCI) for two awards.According to an information from the All-India Football Federation (AIFF), Mohali-based football club Minerva Punjab has been nominated for ‘Hero I-League Club of the Month’ (November-December 2017) and ‘ Hero I-League Coach and Assistant Coach of the Month’ awards, for which head coach Wangkhem Khogen Singh and assistant coach Sachin Badadhe are candidates.The FFCI, an organisation formed in 2011 and approved by the AIFF, will announce the winners of these awards at a function to be held during its monthly award ceremony scheduled to be conducted at the Calcutta Sports Journalists Club on January 8.Minerva Punjab FC has been performing exceedingly well in the current league. At present, it is placed third with 13 points after six matches in a bunch of 10 teams, while the table toppers East Bengal have 17 points in their kitty after eight matches, whereas the second placed Neroca FC have secured 14 points from seven outings.These awards are given to the club in accordance with the constant lead position during the month (30 days in the I-League 2017) Apart from this, development and playing philosophy of the club are also taken into consideration for nomination. The Apollo Tyres backed team Minerva Punjab FC will be rewarded by Shyam Thapa, Chairman, Technical Committee, AIFF and Chief Mentor, FFCI. “The Mohali based club’s contribution to the development of Indian football has not gone unnoticed, as they managed to contribute around 33 players to various age-groups of the Indian Football Team starting from U-15 to the Senior National Team,” said the press release issued today by the club management.Notably, India’s first goal-scorer at the FIFA Junior World Cup Tournament was too a product of Minerva Punjab FC’s Academy along with three others, who made a cut in the 21-member squad for Team India at its first ever FIFA U-17 World Cup appearance, read the release.
There's not much info avbout Kivi Zhimomi. All i could find is that he is product of Dimapur sports academy and went onto playing for Rangdajied United FC then Police AC (Kolkatta) and Mohammedan in past.
Good find deepak. Kivi Zhimomi looks a talented player. He and Vicky Meetei showed lot of energy in the first half but Gokulam Kerala faded when they were substituted. Odafa was a passenger and nobody from kerala team had a vision of throwing a long ball to him. Chencho is probably the best Foreigner right now in i-league. Title race is now consolidating between 4 teams - East Bengal Aizawl FC. Minerva FC and Neroca FC
