Masih Saighani, the Afghan defender of Aizawl FC has been halted by Airport Authority at Imphal.
Aizawl flew off to Manipur for an I-League match against NEROCA FC but at the airport the player has been told to return to Aizawl via the first flight or get ready to go to jail.
According to rules in Manipur, an authorization letter(Protected Area Permit) is required for Chinese, Pakistani and Afghan people to enter Manipur alongside VISA which the player and the officials were unaware of.
Thats the mistake of Aizawl FC management. They are from North east, they should know the rules. Normally Foreigners need to report within 24 hours to the FRO. Afghanistan passport will need extra documentation, they should have enquired.
Registered as Afghanistan player-so cannot change at the last moment. Plus Dual nationals will also have same law applied. If he knew this before, they would have arranged for the documentation.
Even OCI / PIO Card holder Indians will be treated as Foreigners in North east and restrictions are for them in visiting.
We Indian citizens also need Inner Line Permit to go there by road.
It will take him upto 2 days to get PAP in Guwahati Does anyone know whether he required PAP for his stay in Mizoram?
@ashindia Reaching Imphal directly by flight will not require permut. But Indians coming by road will need it as they cannot skip dimapur kohima region to reach manipur. We have IFN member from Dimapur.

Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are the states that require permit fro Indians. Although it is easy to break these rules as a tourist.
